Job description

We are looking for one or two developers capable of contributing to one or both of the following activities:

• frontend improvements (improve presentation and user experience)

• backend improvements (improve underlying systems and their deployment)

The position(s) are offered flexibly, depending on availability and qualifications. Funds are available to cover an equivalent of six months full-time.

Though the head office is situated in Amsterdam's Science Park, this job provides the opportunity to work remotely and flexibly.

Required qualifications

• BSc or MSc degree or equivalent experience

At the bare minimum, you will be a seasoned Python developer with the equivalent of at least two years of working experience with Django and related technologies (see our repository at git.scipost.org/SciPost to get an idea of what we use, and thus what we need you to be familiar with). Familiarity with next-generation technologies such as HTMX is a plus.

Conditions

You will be employed by the SciPost Foundation. The Foundation has adopted the complete terms of employment laid down in the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities ('cao NU'). The salary, depending on relevant experience before the beginning of the employment contract, will be €2,836 to €4,474 (scale 10) gross per month, based on fulltime appointment (38 hours a week). These amounts are exclusive 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus. SciPost offers attractive working conditions, including flexible scheduling. The appointment will be initially for a period of one year, with extension to longer-term appointment upon satisfactory performance.
