Abstract

GRAND will be a distributed set of about 20 arrays of radio antennas, totalling 200,000 km2. We aim to study the ultra high energy universe through the detection of neutrinos, photons and cosmic rays at energies at the EeV scale. In addition GRAND will be used to study astronomical objects like FRBs and GRBs. We will describe the physics motivation, the detection strategy, the first stages of GRAND and the path to creating the complete setup.

Report

The paper is well discribed the motivation, strategy and plan.
Reviewer like to request minor updates.

Requested changes

1-Generaly, the figure position is a bit strange, such that figure put just after section title. Please think about it again.
2-page3 last line; need ")" after "Figure 2"
3-page4 last paragraph; need indent?
4-page4 section3.1; section3 has only section3.1. Please remove it or change
5-In Figure 1and 5, GRAND200k is written. Does it correspond to section4.4?

I would like to thank the reviewer for his careful reading and helpful comments. I implemented all, except for comment 4. After re-reading section 3, I found the description of radio different enough from the first part of the section to warrant its own subsection. This part clearly does belong in section 3, which is why I did not choose to make another section in the text.

I would like to thank the reviewer for his reading and helpful comments. I implemented all, except for comment 4. After going through section 3 a few times I did find that the description of radio detection is different enough from the first part of section 3 to warrant its own subsection. It clearly belongs to section 3 though, which is why I did not choose for a new section
