Abstract
The MuSun experiment is a precision measurement of the rate for nuclear muon capture on the deuteron, designed to resolve a long-standing disagreement between experiment and theory, and to determine an important low-energy constant relevant for a variety of weak and strong dynamics. The experiment is based on a novel active target method employing a pure deuterium cryogenic time-projection chamber. The data taking was completed in two main campaigns and the analysis is well advanced. The unique chal- lenges and corresponding strategy of the experiment as well as the status of the analysis are presented.

Report
We (the editors Cy Hoffman, Klaus Kirch, Adrian Signer) had the
opportunity to review an earlier draft of the article and were in
communication with the authors before the submission. All our comments
and suggestions have been taken into account. Hence, we think the
paper can now be published in the current form.

Report
The quality of the article is according to the standard of the journal.
The strength of the contribution is about reporting the physics motivation associated with the MuSun experiment and the experimental setup in a very clear way. The basic approach of the data analysis is also given.
The scientific community is looking forward to the publication of the physics results associated with the MuSun data-taking long period R2014-2015 and the short R2016.
The references are well selected and supporting in a proper way the text.
The article must be published.
