Abstract:
We review one-matrix models and their connection to topological strings, first introduced by Dijkgraaf and Vafa. We review two-matrix models and their interpretation in terms of Calabi-Yau manifolds. We construct a similar argument as Dijkgraaf and Vafa did in the context of one-matrix models, to connect two-matrix models to topological B-model strings. This is done by considering a geometric transition that relates the geometries associated to two-matrix models to the target space of a certain topological string setup. This then allows to study topological strings propagating on more general geometries.
