• Measuring the light meson nuclear modification factor in p-Pb collisions over an unprecedented $p_{\text{T}}$ range with ALICE

  Differential invariant cross sections of light neutral mesons in p-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\text{NN}}}$ = 8.16 TeV and in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 8 TeV have been measured up to very high transverse momentum ($p_{\text{T}}$). By combining independent reconstruction techniques available in ALICE using the EMCal and PHOS calorimeters as well as the central barrel tracking detectors, the combined spectra cover almost two orders of magnitude in $p_{\rm T}$ for the $\pi^{0}$ meson. The nuclear modification factor $R_{\text{pPb}}$ has been measured for the $\pi^{0}$ and $\eta$ mesons and is found to be consistent with NLO pQCD, CGC and energy loss calculations. Comparisons to the $R_{\text{pPb}}$ of $\pi^{0}$ measured in $\sqrt{s_{\text{NN}}}$ = 5.02 TeV hint at a stronger suppression at low $p_{\rm T}$ with increasing collision energy.

• Domain-wall melting and entanglement in free-fermion chains with a band structure

  We study the melting of a domain wall in free-fermion chains, where the periodic variation of the hopping amplitudes gives rise to a band structure. It is shown that the entanglement grows logarithmically in time, and the prefactor is proportional to the number of filled bands in the initial state. For a dimerized chain the particle density and current are found to have the same expressions as in the homogeneous case, up to a rescaling of the velocity. The universal contribution to the entropy profile is then doubled, while the non-universal part can be extracted numerically from block-Toeplitz matrices.

• Non-zero transverse single spin asymmetry of very forward $\pi^0$ in polarized $p + p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 510$ GeV

  The RHICf experiment measured transverse single spin asymmetry of very forward ($\eta > 6$) $\pi^0$ from polarized $p + p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 510$ GeV. In order to measure it precisely, we installed a new electromagnetic calorimeter at zero-degree area of the STAR experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and measured the $\pi^0$s over the kinematic range of $x_F > 0.25$ and $0 < p_T < 1$ GeV/$c$ in June, 2017. A clear non-zero asymmetry was observed even in low $p_T < 1$ GeV$c$ showing a similar $x_F$ dependence with the forward ($2 < \eta < 4$) $\pi^0$ ones. A possible diffractive contribution may need to be taken into account to explain the very forward $\pi^0$ asymmetry. RHICf-STAR combined analysis and follow-up experiment will give a clue to understand it qualitatively.

• ISAI: Investigating Solar Axion by Iron-57

  The existence of the axion is a unique solution for the strong CP problem, and the axion is one of the most promising candidates of the dark matter. Investigating Solar Axion by Iron-57 (ISAI) is being prepared as a complemented table-top experiment to confirm the solar axion scenario. Probing an X-ray emission from the nuclear transitions associated with the axion-nucleon coupling is a leading approach. ISAI searches for the monochromatic 14.4 keV X-ray from the first excited state of $^{57}$Fe using a state-of-the-art pixelized silicon detector, dubbed XRPIX, under an extremely low-background environment. We highlight scientific objectives, experimental design and the latest status of ISAI.

• Exploring neutrino masses and mixing in the seesaw model with $L_e-L_\tau$ gauged symmetry

  We investigate neutrino phenomenology in the $U(1)_{L_e-L_\tau}$ gauge extension of the Standard Model with symmetry following the framework of type-(I+II) seesaw mechanism. For this, we have added three right handed neutrinos, one singlet and one scalar triplet in our model. We show that the model can successfully accommodate the observed neutrino oscillation data and consistent with the results from lepton flavor violation and neutrinoless double beta decay process.

• T-violating effect in $\nu_\tau (\bar{\nu}_\tau)-$nucleon quasielastic scattering

  The production cross sections and polarization observables of the $\tau$ leptons produced in the $|\Delta S| = 0$ and $1$ induced $\nu_{\tau}(\bar{\nu}_{\tau})-N$ quasielastic scattering have been studied. The effect of T violation, in the case of $\Delta S=0$ and 1 processes, and the SU(3) symmetry breaking effects, in the case of $\Delta S=1$ processes, on the total scattering cross sections as well polarization observables are explored. Experimentally, it would be possible to observe these effects in the forthcoming (anti)neutrino experiments like DUNE, SHiP and DsTau.

• Cosmic censorship of trans-Planckian field ranges in gravitational collapse

  A classical solution where the (scalar) field value moves by an ${\cal O}(1)$ range in Planck units is believed to signal the breakdown of Effective Field Theory (EFT). One heuristic argument for this is that such a field will have enough energy to be inside its own Schwarzschild radius, and will result in collapse. In this paper, we consider an inverse problem: what kind of field ranges arise during the gravitational collapse of a classical field? Despite the fact that collapse has been studied for almost a hundred years, most of the discussion is phrased in terms of fluid stress tensors, and not fields. An exception is the scalar collapse made famous by Choptuik. We re-consider Choptuik-like systems, but with the emphasis now on the evolution of the scalar. We give strong evidence that generic spherically symmetric collapse of a massless scalar field leads to super-Planckian field movement. But we also note that in every such supercritical collapse scenario, the large field range is hidden behind an apparent horizon. We also discuss how the familiar perfect fluid models for collapse like Oppenheimer-Snyder and Vaidya should be viewed in light of our results.

• High-dimensional random landscapes: From typical to large deviations

  We discuss tools and concepts that emerge when studying high-dimensional random landscapes, i.e., random functions on high-dimensional spaces. As an illustrative example, we consider an inference problem in two forms: low-rank matrix estimation (case 1) and low-rank tensor estimation (case 2). We show how to map the inference problem onto the optimization problem of a high-dimensional landscape, which exhibits distinct geometrical properties in the two cases. We discuss methods for characterizing typical realizations of these landscapes and their optimization through local dynamics. We conclude by highlighting connections between the landscape problem and large deviation theory.

• Measuring three-flavor neutrinos with FASER$\nu$ at the LHC

  FASER$\nu$ at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is designed to directly detect neutrinos from a collider for the first time and study their cross sections at TeV energies. To date, no such measurements have been made. In 2018, a pilot detector was installed and collected proton-proton collision data of 12.2 fb$^{-1}$ at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. We observed the first neutrino interaction candidates at the LHC, opening a new avenue for studying neutrinos from current and future high-energy colliders. During Run 3 of the LHC from 2022, we will deploy a neutrino detector with a target mass of 1.1 tons. We expect to collect $\sim$2,000 $\nu_e$, 6,000 $\nu_{\mu}$, and 40 $\nu_{\tau}$ interactions in the detector.

• Constraining the nuclear gluon PDF with inclusive hadron production data

  The nuclear parton distribution functions (nPDFs) of gluons are known to be difficult to determine with fits of deep inelastic scattering (DIS) and Drell-Yan (DY) data alone. Therefore, the nCTEQ15 analysis of nuclear PDFs added inclusive neutral pion production data from RHIC to help in constraining the gluon. In this analysis, we present a new global analysis of nuclear PDFs based on a much larger set of single inclusive light hadron data from RHIC and the LHC. Using our new nCTEQ code (nCTEQ++) with an optimized version of INCNLO we study systematically the limitations of the theory and the impact of the fragmentation function uncertainty.
