Measurements of the Antiquark Flavor Asymmetry in the Proton by the Drell-Yan Experiment SeaQuest

The antiquark flavor asymmetry dbar/ubar in the proton gives an insight on the non-perturbative structure of the proton. The SeaQuest experiment measured the Drell–Yan cross section ratio of proton-deuterium to proton-proton to determine the antiquark flavor asymmetry dbar/ubar precisely in the range of 0.13<x<0.45. SeaQuest provides the evidence of dbar/ubar > 1.0 over a wide range of momenta. Some theoretical models reproduce this result.
Central exclusive diffractive production of axial-vector $f_{1}$ mesons in proton-proton collisions

Exclusive production of axial-vector $f_{1}(1285)$ meson in proton-proton collisions via pomeron-pomeron fusion within the tensor-pomeron approach is discussed. Two ways to construct the pomeron-pomeron-$f_{1}$ coupling are presented. We adjust the parameters of our model to the WA102 experimental data and compare with predictions of the Sakai-Sugimoto model. Predictions for LHC experiments are given.
Exclusive electro-weak production of a charmed meson at high energy

Exclusive electro-weak processes have peculiar features which make them complementary to usually discussed deeply virtual electroproduction processes such as deep virtual Compton scattering or meson production (and the corresponding crossed reactions). They allow in particular single charmed meson production, which we study in two different contexts : electroproduction at an electron ion collider and neutrino-production at a medium energy neutrino facility. We rely on the QCD collinear factorization framework where generalized parton distributions allow physicists to perform a nucleon tomography.
Nucleon and pion PDFs: large-x asymptotics meets functional mimicry

We review strategies to unveil the primordial large-$x$ structure of the nucleons as well as the pion from hard-scattering experiments. Ideas are presented for learning about the $x\to 1$ limit of nonperturbative QCD dynamics at energy scales of order 1 GeV from collider experiments at much higher scales. The behavior of parton distributions at $x\to 1$ predicted by the quark counting rules and other low-energy theoretical approaches is contrasted with phenomenological PDFs. Polynomial mimicry of PDF parametrizations is one of many factors that influence the apparent power of the $(1-x)$ falloff. We discuss implications of the mimicry for the large-$x$ falloff of the pion PDFs.
Measurement of splittings along a jet shower in $\sqrt{s} = 200$ GeV pp collisions at STAR

Jets are algorithmic proxies of hard scattered partons, i.e. quarks and gluons, in high energy particle collisions. The STAR collaboration presents the first measurements of substructure observables at the first, second and third splits in the jet clustering tree via the iterative SoftDrop procedure. For each of these splits, we measure the fully corrected groomed shared momentum fraction (\zg) and groomed jet radius (\rg). We discuss the evolution of jet substructure in both the angular and momentum scales which allows for a self-similarity test of the DGLAP splitting function. We compare the fully corrected data to Monte Carlo models, providing stringent constraints on model parameters related to the parton shower and non-perturbative effects such as hadronization.
Open strange meson $K^\pm_1$ in hot and dense nuclear matter

Using the unification of the chiral SU(3) model and QCD sum rules, we deduce the in-medium properties of $K^\pm_1$ meson. Within the chiral SU(3) model, medium modified gluon and quark condensates are evaluated through their interactions with the scalar fields ($\sigma$, $\zeta$, $\delta$, and $\chi$). These condensates are further used as input in the Borel transformed equations of QCD sum rules to evaluate the in-medium mass of strange $K^\pm_1$ meson. The in-medium property of the above meson can be used to study the restoration of chiral symmetry in nuclear matter.
Non-zero transverse single spin asymmetry of very forward $\pi^0$ in polarized $p + p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 510$ GeV

The RHICf experiment measured transverse single spin asymmetry of very forward ($\eta > 6$) $\pi^0$ from polarized $p + p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 510$ GeV. In order to measure it precisely, we installed a new electromagnetic calorimeter at zero-degree area of the STAR experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and measured the $\pi^0$s over the kinematic range of $x_F > 0.25$ and $0 < p_T < 1$ GeV/$c$ in June, 2017. A clear non-zero asymmetry was observed even in low $p_T < 1$ GeV$c$ showing a similar $x_F$ dependence with the forward ($2 < \eta < 4$) $\pi^0$ ones. A possible diffractive contribution may need to be taken into account to explain the very forward $\pi^0$ asymmetry. RHICf-STAR combined analysis and follow-up experiment will give a clue to understand it qualitatively.
Measuring the light meson nuclear modification factor in p-Pb collisions over an unprecedented $p_{\text{T}}$ range with ALICE

Differential invariant cross sections of light neutral mesons in p-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\text{NN}}}$ = 8.16 TeV and in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 8 TeV have been measured up to very high transverse momentum ($p_{\text{T}}$). By combining independent reconstruction techniques available in ALICE using the EMCal and PHOS calorimeters as well as the central barrel tracking detectors, the combined spectra cover almost two orders of magnitude in $p_{\rm T}$ for the $\pi^{0}$ meson. The nuclear modification factor $R_{\text{pPb}}$ has been measured for the $\pi^{0}$ and $\eta$ mesons and is found to be consistent with NLO pQCD, CGC and energy loss calculations. Comparisons to the $R_{\text{pPb}}$ of $\pi^{0}$ measured in $\sqrt{s_{\text{NN}}}$ = 5.02 TeV hint at a stronger suppression at low $p_{\rm T}$ with increasing collision energy.
$tW$ and $tZ'$ production at hadron colliders

We present theoretical results with soft-gluon corrections for two separate processes: (1) the production of a single top quark in association with a $W$ boson in the Standard Model; and (2) the production of a single top quark in association with a heavy $Z'$ boson in new physics models with or without anomalous couplings. We show that the higher-order corrections from soft-gluon emission are dominant for a wide range of collider energies. Results are shown for the total cross sections and top-quark transverse-momentum and rapidity distributions for $tW$ and $tZ'$ production at LHC and future collider energies up to 100 TeV. The uncertainties from scale dependence and parton distribution functions are also analyzed.
First measurement of the forward rapidity gap distribution in pPb collisions at 8 TeV

We present the forward rapidity gap spectra from proton-lead collisions for both I\!P-Pb and I\!P-p topologies measured at the CMS at a center-of-mass energy of 8.16 TeV. For the I\!P-Pb topology, the cross-section predicted by EPOS-LHC is a factor of two lower than the data while has reasonable description of the spectrum shape. For the I\!P-p topology, the EPOS-LHC, QGSJET~II and HIJING predictions are significantly lower than the data, what can be explained by a contribution of ultra-peripheral photoproduction events. The obtained data may be of significant input for understanding the high energy limit of QCD and modeling cosmic ray air showers.
