• Implementing Transverse Momentum Dependent splitting functions in Parton Branching evolution equations

  The Parton Branching (PB) approach describes the evolution of transverse momentum dependent (TMD) parton densities. We propose to extend the PB method by including TMD splitting functions, instead of the DGLAP splitting functions which assume strong ordering in transverse momentum. We present the evolution equations and their numerical solution, which is the first Monte Carlo implementation including TMD splitting functions.

• The pion beta and radiative electronic decays

  As the lightest meson, pion offers unique opportunities for measuring parameters and testing limits of the Standard Model (SM). The PiBeta experiment, carried out at PSI, focused on SM tests accessible through the pion beta, π + → π 0 e + ν e (γ), and electronic radiative, π + → e + ν e γ, decay channels. We review the PiBeta experiment, and update the pion beta decay branching ratio B πβ^exp = 1.038(6) tot × 10 −8 , along with the corresponding derived value of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element V ud = 0.9738(28).

• The pion-photon transition form factor at two loops in QCD

  We report on the fully analytic calculation of the leading-power contribution to the photon-pion transition form factor $\gamma \, \gamma^{\ast} \to \pi^0$ at two loops in QCD. The applied techniques are based on hard-collinear factorization, together with modern multi-loop methods. We focus both, on the technical details such as the treatment of evanescent operators, and the phenomenological implications. Our results indicate that the two-loop correction is numerically comparable to the one-loop effect in the same kinematic domain. We also demonstrate that our results will play a key role in disentangling various models for the twist-two pion distribution amplitude thanks to the envisaged precision at Belle II.

• Using coherent dipion photoproduction to image gold nuclei

  Vector meson photoproduction offers the opportunity to image target nuclei. The two-dimensional Fourier transform $d\sigma_{\rm coherent}/dt$ of coherent vector meson photoproduction gives the two-dimensional distribution of interaction sites in the target. Since vector meson photoproduction occurs, at lowest order, via two-gluon exchange, this is sensitive to gluon shadowing. We present an analysis of $\pi^+\pi^-$ photoproduction using data from the STAR detector and a study of $d\sigma_{\rm coherent}/dt$, with an emphasis on probing the nuclear shape and its systematic uncertainties.

• Recent Highlights from Spin-Physics Experiments

  A snapshot of the current experimental status of spin-dependent nucleon structure prior to the arrival of the Electron Ion Collider will be attempted. Highlights of recent results from fixed-target experiments at JLab, Fermilab, CERN and DESY and collider experiments from RHIC are presented. Many of the recent results address the topics of transverse proton or parton spin and transverse parton momenta (TMDs), and their their (spin-orbit) correlations. Results on generalized parton distributions (GPDs), which provide an alternative pathway to mapping nucleon structure, are also discussed.

• Impact of LHC dijet production in pp and pPb collisions on the nNNPDF2.0 nuclear PDFs

  We quantify the impact of LHC dijet production measurements on the nNNPDF2.0 nuclear PDFs in twofold. First, from a proton baseline based on NNPDF3.1 and augmented by pp dijet production measurements from ATLAS and CMS at 7 and 8 TeV. Second, from a new nNNPDF2.0 global analysis including the ratio of pPb to pp dijet spectra from CMS at 5 TeV. We show that as opposed to the CMS at 5 TeV absolute pp and pPb dijet spectra, the pPb/pp ratio is well described in a nPDFs fit and provides strong constraints on the gluon of lead.

• Magnetic properties of a multicomponent intermetallic compound Tb$_{0.25}$Dy$_{0.25}$Ho$_{0.25}$Er$_{0.25}$Al$_2$

  Polycrystalline multicomponent Laves phase rare earth intermetallic compound Tb$_{0.25}$ Dy$_{0.25}$Ho$_{0.25}$Er$_{0.25}$Al$_{2}$ has been synthesized by arc-melting and characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, magnetization and heat capacity measurements. The sample has MgCu$_2$-type cubic structure (space group Fd-3m) at 300 K. The compound Tb$_{0.25}$Dy$_{0.25}$Ho$_{0.25}$Er$_{0.25}$ Al$_{2}$ orders ferromagnetically at 50 K (T$_C$). This value is almost equal to the average of the ferromagnetic ordering temperatures of the individual RAl$_2$ (R = Tb, Dy, Ho and Er) compounds. Field dependence of magnetization below T$_C$ indicates soft-ferromagnetic nature. From the magnetization vs field data obtained near T$_C$ and the temperature dependence of heat capacity, low field magnetocaloric effect has been estimated.

• Tau neutrinos in IceCube, KM3NeT and the Pierre Auger Observatory

  In 2018, the IceCube collaboration reported evidence for the identification of a blazar as an astrophysical neutrino source. That evidence is briefly summarised here before focusing on the prospects of tau neutrino physics in IceCube, both at high energies (astrophysical neutrinos) and at lower energies (atmospheric neutrino oscillations). In addition, future neutrino detectors such as KM3NeT and the IceCube Upgrade and their tau neutrino physics potential are discussed. Finally, the detection mechanism for high-energy (tau) neutrinos in the Pierre Auger Observatory and the resulting flux upper limits are presented.

• Recent results from the long-baseline (LBL) neutrino oscillation experiments

  The results from the current long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiments are reviewed. These experiments are designed to measure the remaining unknown neutrino oscillation parameters via the oscillation of accelerator neutrinos over long distances. The performance of these experiments and their results are described and discussed, giving a precise picture of the current status of the measurements for the neutrino mass ordering, the value of ∆m 232 , the θ 23 and the lepton CP-violating phase, δ CP .

• Dark matter as a QCD effect in an anti de Sitter geometry: Cosmogonic implications of de Sitter, anti de Sitter and Poincaré symmetries

  The $\Lambda$CDM standard model of cosmology involves two dark components of the universe, dark energy and dark matter. Whereas dark energy is usually associated with the (positive) cosmological constant $\Lambda$ associated with a de Sitter geometry, we propose to explain dark matter as a pure QCD effect, namely a gluonic Bose Einstein condensate with the status of a Cosmic Gluonic Background (CGB). This effect is due to the trace anomaly viewed as an effective negative cosmological constant determining an Anti de Sitter geometry and accompanying baryonic matter at the hadronization transition from the quark gluon plasma phase to the colorless hadronic phase. Our approach also allows to assume a ratio Dark/Visible equal to 11/2.
