• Prospects for Higgs and di-Higgs measurements at the ATLAS experiment

  The large dataset of about 3000 $\rm{fb}^{-1}$ that will be collected at the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) will be used to measure Higgs boson processes in detail. This large dataset will also provide sensitivity to di-Higgs processes and will allow for the improvement of the constraints on the Higgs boson self coupling. Studies based on current ATLAS analyses using LHC Run 2 data have been carried out to understand the expected precision and limitations of the Higgs and di-Higgs measurements at the HL-LHC. This paper presents the ATLAS prospects for Higgs and di-Higgs results at the HL-LHC.

• Measurement of the $t\bar{t}t\bar{t}$ production at 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the LHC

  Two measurements and their combination for the $t\bar{t}t\bar{t}$ production cross-section analysis using 139 fb$^{-1}$ of proton$-$proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC are presented. The first analysis uses the final states with either one or two opposite-sign leptons (electrons or muons). In the second analysis the final states with either two same-sign or at least three leptons are considered. With an observed (expected) significance of 4.3 (2.4) standard deviations over the background-only hypothesis, the second analysis provides the first evidence for the $t\bar{t}t\bar{t}$ process. No significant deviations from the Standard Model are observed.

• Anomalous coupling studies with forward protons at the LHC

  We describe the gain on sensitivities to quartic $\gamma \gamma \gamma \gamma$, $\gamma \gamma WW$ and $\gamma \gamma \gamma Z$ anomalous couplings and to the search for Axion-Like Particles by two or three orders of magnitude with respect to standard methods at the LHC by tagging intact protons in the final state.

• GRAND: A Giant Radio Array for Neutrino Detection

  GRAND will be a distributed set of about 20 arrays of radio antennas, totalling 200,000 km2. We aim to study the ultra high energy universe through the detection of neutrinos, photons and cosmic rays at energies at the EeV scale. In addition GRAND will be used to study astronomical objects like FRBs and GRBs. We will describe the physics motivation, the detection strategy, the first stages of GRAND and the path to creating the complete setup.

• Measurements of $t\overline{t}$ production cross-sections with the ATLAS experiment at the LHC

  Comprehensive measurements of differential cross-sections of top-quark-antiquark pair-production are presented. They are performed in the dilepton, lepton+jets and the all-hadronic channels, using $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV data from the ATLAS detector at the LHC. Several setups of next-to-leading order and next-to-next-to-leading order generators are quantitatively compared to the measurements. In addition, total cross-section measurements using up to the full ATLAS Run 2 dataset are presented.

  Erik Panzer, from the University of Oxford, has been awarded the 2020 Hermann Weyl Prize of the International Colloquium on Group Theoretical Methods in Physics, for "his pioneering achievements in the calculation of amplitudes in gauge theories, for developing new mathematical structures that exploit the language of symmetries, and for his contribution to the description of important physical phenomena present in nature."

• Latest ALICE results on J/$ψ$ photoproduction in ultra-peripheral collisions at the LHC

  Ultra-peripheral collisions (UPCs), studied using the ALICE detector, allow us to investigate the low-$x$ behavior of the gluon distribution of the colliding particles. Two new measurements of coherent J/$\psi$ photoproduction cross section from Pb-Pb UPCs at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}=5.02$ TeV are presented: the first measurement of the $|t|$-dependence of the cross section providing a new tool to investigate the transverse gluonic structure at low Bjorken-$x$ and a rapidity-differential measurement at midrapidity allowing us to provide stringent constraints on nuclear gluon shadowing and saturation models. In addition, prospects for heavy vector meson photoproduction measurements in LHC Run 3 and 4 are presented.

• Three-loop soft anomalous dimensions for top-quark processes

  I present results for soft anomalous dimensions through three loops for several processes involving the production of top quarks. In particular, I discuss single-top and top-pair production. I also present some numerical results for double-differential distributions in $t{\bar t}$ production through approximate N$^3$LO.

• The prediction of anyons: Its history and wider implications

  Prediction of "anyons," often attributed exclusively to Wilczek, came first from Leinaas and Myrheim in 1977, and independently from Goldin, Menikoff, and Sharp in 1980-81. In 2020, experimentalists successfully created anyonic excitations. This paper discusses why the possibility of quantum particles in two-dimensional space with intermediate exchange statistics eluded physicists for so long after bosons and fermions were understood. The history suggests ideas for the preparation of future researchers. I conclude by addressing failures to attribute scientific achievements accurately, both inadvertent and intentional. Such practices disproportionately hurt women and minorities in physics.

• Two faces of Hawking radiation and thin-shell emission: pair-creation vs. tunneling

  We first revisit Hartle and Hawking's path integral derivation of Hawking radiation. In the first point of view, we interpret that a particle-antiparticle pair is created and the negative energy antiparticle falls into the black hole. On the other point of view, a particle inside the horizon, or beyond the Einstein-Rosen bridge, tunnels to outside the horizon, where this computation requires the analytic continuation of the time. These two faces of the Hawking radiation process can be extended to not only particles but also fields. As a concrete example, we study the thin-shell tunneling process; by introducing the antishell as a negative tension shell, we can give the consistent interpretation for two pictures, where one is a tunneling from inside to outside the horizon using instantons, while the other is a shell-antishell pair-creation. This shows that the Euclidean path integral indeed carries vast physical implications not only for perturbative, but also for non-perturbative processes.
