Dark Matter searches with the ATLAS Detector

The presence of a non-baryonic dark matter (DM) component in the Universe is inferred from the observation of its gravitational interaction. If dark matter interacts weakly with the Standard Model (SM) it could be produced at the LHC. The ATLAS experiment has developed a broad search program for DM candidates, including resonance searches for the mediator which would couple DM to the SM. The results of recent searches on 13 TeV pp data, their interplay and interpretation will be presented. Prospects for HL-LHC will also be discussed.
Pionic hydrogen and deuterium

The measurement of strong-interaction shift and broadening in pionic hydrogen and deuterium yields pion-nucleon scattering lengths as well as the threshold pion-production strength on isoscalar NN pairs. Results from recent high-resolution experiments at PSI using crystal spectrometers allow important comparisons with the outcome of the modern low-energy description of QCD within the framework of effective field theories.

GRAPES-3 is an extensive air shower array located at Ooty (11.6$^\circ$N, 76.7$^\circ$E, 2200 m a.s.l.) in southern India. Recently, the angular resolution of the GRAPES-3 array has been improved by correcting the shower front curvature based on the shower size and age. Here, we present the results of the angular resolution and pointing accuracy of the array through observation of the Moon shadow. We have analyzed the data for the period of 2014-2016 containing $\sim$ 3$×$10$^9$ air shower events with a median energy of 15 TeV. A significant improvement in the angular resolution has been observed compared to the earlier analysis by the group through the Moon shadow method and is comparable to the arrays located at a 2 km higher altitude than the GRAPES-3 experiment.
Complementarity of Lepton-Charge and Forward-Backward Drell-Yan Asymmetries for Precision Electroweak Measurements and Quark Density Determinations

We address the impact of future measurements of charged and neutral current Drell-Yan (DY) asymmetries and their combination on Parton Distribution Functions (PDFs) uncertainties. We quantify the reduction of PDF uncertainties using the QCD tool xFitter. We examine the effects of such reduced PDF errors on both Standard Model (SM) and Beyond SM (BSM) observables.
Measurement of charged-particle production in single diffractive proton-proton collisions with the STAR detector

We present results on the inclusive and identified (pion, kaon, proton and their antiparticles) charged-particle production in single diffractive (SD) dissociation process in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=200$ GeV with the STAR detector at RHIC. The forward-scattered proton is measured in the Roman Pot (RP) system, while the charged particle tracks are reconstructed in the STAR Time Projection Chamber. The proton-antiproton production asymmetry is measured to study the baryon number transfer over a large rapidity interval in SD process. In addition, $K/\pi$ ratio is measured, showing a larger strangeness production at $p_T>0.5$ GeV/$\mathit{c}$ compared to measurements in inclusive proton-proton collisions.
Measurement of the transverse polarization of electrons emitted in neutron decay – nTRV experiment

This paper recalls the main achievements of the nTRV experiment which measured two components of the transverse polarization ($\sigma_{T_{1}}$, $\sigma_{T_{2}}$) of electrons emitted in the $\beta$-decay of polarized, free neutrons and deduced two correlation coefficients, $R$ and $N$, that are sensitive to physics beyond the Standard Model. The value of time-reversal odd coefficient $R$, 0.004$\pm$0.012$\pm$0.005, significantly improved limits on the relative strength of imaginary scalar coupling constant in the weak interaction. The value obtained for the time-reversal even correlation coefficient $N$, 0.067$\pm$0.011$\pm$0.004, agrees with the Standard Model expectation, providing an important sensitivity test of the electron polarimeter. One of the conclusions of this pioneering experiment was that the transverse electron polarization in the neutron $\beta$-decay is worth more systematic exploring by measurements of yet experimentally not attempted correlation coefficients such as $H$, $L$, $S$, $U$ and $V$. This article presents a brief outlook on that questions.
Measurements of jet substructure and jet fragmentation using the ATLAS detector

Measurements of the internal properties of jets at the LHC interaction scale allow QCD to be studied in a new energy regime. In this talk, we discuss recent measurements of jet substructure and jet fragmentation, which were performed using data collected by the ATLAS experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV. The fragmentation properties of jets, such as the jet charge and summed fragmentation function, are measured using charged particles. A comprehensive suite of jet substructure observables is also measured for jets reconstructed with the soft-drop algorithm applied. In addition, a measurement of the Lund plane is performed using charged particles. All of the measurements are corrected for detector effects and are compared to the predictions of state-of-the-art Monte Carlo event generators.
Pion electronic decay and lepton universality

In common with a number of simple processes involving elementary particles, charged pion decays are profoundly shaped by applicable Standard Model (SM) symmetries and properties. Given the highly precise SM theoretical description, pion decays are used as selective probes of SM parameters, and of possible SM extensions. The PEN experiment at PSI is studying the π + → e + ν e (γ), or π_ e2(γ) decay. The primary goal is to reach the relative precision of 5 × 10 ^{−4} in Re/μ^π, the branching ratio for π_ e2(γ) decay. We review the PEN research program, its present status, and prospects.
On the modeling of $t\bar{t}W^\pm$ signatures at the LHC

We discuss our recent progress on improving the theoretical description of the $pp\to t\bar{t}W^\pm$ process with particular focus on fiducial signatures that include top-quark decays. We employ a wide range of techniques from parton shower matching, narrow width approximation to full off-shell computations to assess the importance of the different modeling approaches.
Backward-Angle (u-Channel) Meson Production from JLab 12~GeV Hall C to EIC

The recent exclusive backward-angle electroproduction of omega from Jefferson Lab Hall C electron-proton fixed-target scattering experiments above the resonance region hints at a new domain of applicability of QCD factorization in a unique u-channel kinematics regime. Thanks to this effort, the interest in studying nucleon structure through u-channel meson production observables has grown significantly. In the fixed target configuration, theu-channel meson electroproduction observables feature a unique interaction picture: the target proton absorbs nearly all momentum induced by virtual photons and recoils forward, while the produced mesons (such as omega or pions) are left behind almost at rest near the target station. In this presentation, We provide a summary of the key observations of the existing u-channel meson production results, update-to-date theory insights, and a path to further exploration from JLab 12 GeV Hall C program to the future Electron-Ion Colliders
