Multiplicity dependence of charged-particle jet production in pp collisions at 13 TeV with ALICE

Measurements of jet production and jet properties in pp collisions provide a test of perturbative quantum chromodynamics (pQCD) and form a baseline for similar measurements in heavy ion (A-A) collisions. In this contribution, we report recent ALICE measurements of charged-particle jet production and intra-jet properties, including mean charged-constituent multiplicity and fragmentation distribution for leading jets, in minimum bias pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV. In addition, the event multiplicity dependence of jet production and jet properties in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV will be presented. Results will be compared with theoretical model predictions.
Measurements and searches of Higgs boson production involving fermion couplings with the ATLAS detector

In the standard model, fermions acquire the mass via the Yukawa interaction. This mechanism can be tested by measuring couplings of the fermions with the Higgs boson. At the ATLAS experiment, the Higgs-fermion coupling measurements became possible thanks to the abundant dataset: the integrated luminosity of 139~fb$^{-1}$ at the centre-of-mass energy of 13~TeV as well as 25~fb$^{-1}$ at 7--8~TeV. This paper presents recent results from measurements of the Higgs boson productions in decays to a fermion pair in the final state with the ATLAS detector.
The Soft Anomalous Dimension at four loops in the Regge Limit

The soft anomalous dimension governs the infrared divergences of scattering amplitudes in general kinematics to all orders in perturbation theory. By comparing the recent Regge-limit results for $2\to2$ scattering (through Next-to-Next-to-Leading Logarithms) in full colour to a general form for the soft anomalous dimension at four loops we derive powerful constraints on its kinematic dependence, opening the way for a bootstrap-based determination.
Ultraperipheral collisions and low-x physics

Ultraperipheral collisions at the LHC and RHIC offer the highest currently available energy for photon-nucleon and photon-nucleus collisions. Thus they are a valuable tool for studying the gluonic structure of hadrons and nuclei at small x. We discuss recent theoretical work towards understanding such exclusive processes at NLO accuracy in QCD perturbation theory. These theoretical advances are also immediately relevant for understanding the physics of deep inelastic scattering at small x. We also discuss experimental results in ultraperipheral collisions, most prominently for exclusive vector meson production.
Recent Highlights on Higgs Physics from the LHC

Many of the Higgs boson production and decay channels, predicted by the StandardModel, have been observed since its 2012 discovery. Today, measurements of the Higgsboson’s properties in these channels deepen our understanding of the nature of thisfundamental particle by providing better information about its mass, production kine-matics, and CP structure. Increasing precision also enables targeting rare Higgs bosondecay modes and probing di-Higgs-boson production. In addition, searches for beyondStandard Model physics in the Higgs sector are performed. This article presents the lat-est Higgs boson measurement highlights from the ATLAS and CMS collaborations usingLHC proton-proton collision data at a centre of mass energy of 13 TeV.
A testable theory for high-Tc superconductivity in cuprates

A number of theories for the superconductivity in cuprates, have been proposed in the more than 30 years that have elapsed since its discovery. A common feature of these theories is the small number, or even the absence, of quantitative predictions that could be compared to a vast number of experimental data, which are, conversely, available. Such theories are, consequently non-testable. We describe the foundations and a number of applications of a theory describing High-Tc Superconductivity in cuprates, which we proposed recently, that besides being testable, has proven to meet successfully the tests to which it has been submitted so far.
Recent results from reactor antineutrino experiments

The smallest neutrino mixing angle $\theta_{13}$ has been successfully measured by the disappearance of reactor antineutrinos at RENO, Daya Bay, and Double Chooz. The oscillation frequency is also measured based on energy and baseline dependent disappearance probability of reactor antineutrinos. Recent results fi nd a variation in the observed reactor antineutrino flux as a function of the reactor fuel evolution. We report more precisely measured values of $\theta_{13}$ and $\Delta m^2_{ee}$ and results on the evolution of observed reactor antineutrino yield and spectrum.
Single crystal growth of PrNiGe$_2$ compounds

We report on the magnetic characterization of a praseodym intermetallic PrNiGe$_2$. Several single crystals are grown by the Czochralski method from Ni- deficient sample as the initial one. X-ray analysis of PrNi$_{0.8}$Ge$_2$ indicated the CeNiSi$_2$-type structure as the only phase. The magnetic measurements clearly indicate that PrNi$_x$Ge$_2$ exhibits a ferromagnetic orderings at 12 K, which is independent with of composition of Ni. A strong anisotropy along the three principal crystallographic directions was observed, reflecting the orthorhombic symmetry of the crystal structure. The $b$-axis was found to be the easy axis of magnetization.
Light sterile neutrinos: a critical overview

Light sterile neutrinos, first proposed after the results of the LSND experiment, have been a polemical topic for the last decades after seemingly contradictory data appeared from different experiments. In this overview, I review the experimental hints that point towards sterile neutrinos as well as their statistical compatibility. Even though the muon neutrino disappearance experiments strongly rule out vanilla sterile neutrinos, each oscillation channel remains internally mostly consistent. In any case, in the near future a series of independent and precise experiments should finally settle down this issue.
All-order renormalization of electric charge in the Standard Model and beyond

Electric charge, as defined in the Thomson limit of the electron--photon interaction vertex, is renormalized to all orders both in the Standard Model and in any spontaneously broken gauge theory with gauge group GxU(1) with a group factor U(1) that mixes with electromagnetic gauge symmetry. In the framework of the background-field method the charge renormalization constant $Z_e$ is directly obtained from the photon wave-function renormalization constant, similar to the situation in QED, which proves charge universality as a byproduct. Exploiting charge universality in arbitrary $R_\xi$ gauge by formulating the charge renormalization condition for a ``fake fermion'' that couples only via an infinitesimal electric charge, $Z_e$ can be expressed in terms of renormalization constants that are obtained solely from gauge-boson self-energies.
