• Impact of heavy-quark production measurements in the CT18 global QCD analysis of PDFs

  We discuss the impact of heavy-flavor production measurements in semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering at HERA on the CTEQ-TEA PDFs. In particular, we study the impact of the latest charm and bottom production measurements from the H1 and ZEUS collaborations on the gluon, and the interplay of these measurements with the data ensemble of the recent CT18 global QCD analysis.

• GRIFFIN: A C++ library for electroweak radiative corrections in fermion scattering and decay processes

  This paper describes a modular framework for the description of electroweak scattering and decay processes, including but not limited to Z-resonance physics. The framework consistently combines a complex-pole expansion near an s-channel resonance with a regular fixed-order perturbative description away from the resonance in a manifestly gauge-invariant scheme. Leading vertex correction contributions are encapsulated in form factors that can be predicted or treated as numerical fit parameters. This framework has been implemented in the publicly available object-oriented C++ library GRIFFIN. Version 1.0 of this library provides Standard Model predictions for the IR-subtracted matrix elements for the process $f\bar{f} \to f'\bar{f}'$ with full NNLO and leading higher-order contributions on the Z-resonance, and with NLO corrections off-resonance. The library can straightforwardly be extended to include higher-order corrections, should they become available, or predictions for new physics models. It can be interfaced with Monte-Carlo programs to account for QED and QCD initial-state and final-state radiation.

• Interference dynamics of matter-waves of SU($N$) fermions

  Interacting N-component fermions spatially confined in ring-shaped potentials display specific coherence properties. The orbital angular momentum per particle of such systems can be quantized to fractional values specifically depending on the particle-particle interaction. Here we demonstrate how to monitor the state of the system through homodyne (momentum distribution) and self-heterodyne system's expansion. For homodyne protocols, the momentum distribution is affected by the particle statistics in two distinctive ways. The first effect is a purely statistical one: at zero interactions, the characteristic hole in the momentum distribution around the momentum k=0 opens up once half of the SU(N) Fermi sphere is displaced. The second effect originates from the interaction: The fractionalization in the interacting system manifests itself by an additional "delay" in the flux for the occurrence of the hole, that now becomes a characteristic minimum at k=0. We demonstrate that the angular momentum fractional quantization is reflected in the self-heterodyne interference as specific dislocations in interferograms. Our analysis demonstrates how the study of the interference fringes grants us access to both number of particles and number of components of SU(N) fermions.

• Variation along liquid isomorphs of the driving force for crystallization

  We investigate the variation of the driving force for crystallization of a supercooled liquid along isomorphs, curves along which structure and dynamics are invariant. The variation is weak, and can be predicted accurately for the Lennard-Jones fluid using a recently developed formalism and data at a reference temperature. More general analysis allows interpretation of experimental data for molecular liquids such as dimethyl phthalate and indomethacin, and suggests that the isomorph scaling exponent $\gamma$ in these cases is an increasing function of density, although this cannot be seen in measurements of viscosity or relaxation time.

• LHC searches motivated by recent $B$-anomalies

  We discuss the physics case for the LHC motivated by the $B$-physics anomalies. After correlating semi-tauonic $B$ decays to di-tau production at the LHC, and discussing the possible models solving the $B$-anomalies, we show how existing LHC data in $\tau\bar\tau$ tails exclude most beyond the SM scenarios except for a handful of leptoquark (LQ) models. We analyze the impact of LHC searches for some of these LQ solutions using current data. In particular, we focus on the well known $U_1$ vector LQ as well as the GUT-inspired scalar LQs, $R_2$ and $S_3$. By exploiting the complementarity between di-tau searches and the lepton flavor violating decays $B\to K\mu\tau$ and $\tau\to\mu\phi$ we argue that these model can be cornered by the LHC, Belle~II and LHCb in the near future.

• Quantum chaos in perturbative super-Yang-Mills Theory

  We provide numerical evidence that the perturbative spectrum of anomalous dimensions in maximally supersymmetric $SU(N)$ Yang-Mills theory is chaotic at finite values of $N$. We calculate the probability distribution of one-loop level spacings for subsectors of the theory and show that for large $N$ it is given by the Poisson distribution of integrable models, while at finite values it is the Wigner-Dyson distribution of the Gaussian orthogonal ensemble random matrix theory. We extend these results to two-loop order and to a one-parameter family of deformations. We further study the spectral rigidity for these models and show that it is also well described by random matrix theory. Finally we demonstrate that the finite-$N$ eigenvectors possess properties of chaotic states.

• Cornering extended Starobinsky inflation with CMB and SKA

  Starobinsky inflation is an attractive, fundamental model to explain the Planck measurements, and its higher-order extension may allow us to probe quantum gravity effects. We show that future CMB data combined with the 21cm intensity map from SKA will meaningfully probe such an extended Starobinsky model. A combined analysis will provide a precise measurement and intriguing insight into inflationary dynamics, even accounting for correlations with astrophysical parameters.

• Microscopic theory of fractional excitations in gapless quantum Hall states: semi-quantized quantum Hall states

  We derive the low-energy theory of semi-quantized quantum Hall states, a recently observed class of gapless bilayer fractional quantum Hall states. Our theory shows these states to feature gapless quasiparticles of fractional charge coupled to an emergent Chern-Simons gauge field. These gapless quasiparticles can be understood as composites of electrons and Laughlin-like quasiparticles. We show that semi-quantized quantum Hall states exhibit perfect interlayer drag, host non-Fermi liquid physics, and serve as versatile parent states for fully gapped topological phases hosting anyonic excitations.
