  The Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) is a next-generation underground observatory, to be located in the USA, aiming at precise measurements of long-baseline neutrino oscillations over a 1300 km baseline, detection of supernova neutrinos and search for nucleon decay and other physics beyond the Standard Model. The far detector, a very large liquid argon time projection chamber, requires a dedicated prototyping effort (ProtoDUNE), currently ongoing at CERN.

• PERLE - ERL Test Facility at Orsay

  PERLE (Powerful ERL for Experiments) is a novel Energy Recovery Linac (ERL) test facility, designed to validate choices for a 50 GeV ERL foreseen in the design of the Large Hadron Electron Collider (LHeC) and the Future Circular Collider (FCC-eh), and to host dedicated nuclear and particle physics experiments. Its main thrust is to probe high current, continuous wave (CW), multi-pass operation with superconducting cavities at 802 MHz. With very high transient beam power (10 MW), PERLE offers an opportunity for controllable study of every beam dynamic effect of interest in the next generation of ERL design and becomes a ‘stepping stone’ between present state-of-art 1 MW ERLs and future 100 MW scale applications.

• Theoretical study of deeply virtual Compton scattering off $^4$He

  An interesting breakthrough in understanding the elusive inner content of nuclear systems in terms of partonic degrees of freedom is represented by deeply virtual Compton scattering processes. In such a way, tomographic view of nuclei and bound nucleons in coordinate space could be achieved for the first time. Moreover, nowadays experimental results for such a process considering $^4$He targets recently released at Jefferson Lab are available. In this talk, the recent results of our rigorous Impulse Approximation for DVCS off $^4$He, in terms of state-of-the-art models of the nuclear spectral function and of the parton structure of the bound proton, able to explain present data, has been shown.

• Lacing topological orders in two dimensions: Exactly solvable models for Kitaev's sixteen-fold way

  A family of two-dimensional (2D) spin-1/2 models have been constructed to realize Kitaev's sixteen-fold way of anyon theories. Defining a one-dimensional (1D) path through all the lattice sites, and performing the Jordan-Wigner transformation with the help of the 1D path, we find that such a spin-1/2 model is equivalent to a model with $\nu$ species of Majorana fermions coupled to a static $\mathbb{Z}_2$ gauge field. Here each species of Majorana fermions gives rise to an energy band that carries a Chern number $\mathcal{C}=1$, yielding a total Chern number $\mathcal{C}=\nu$. It has been shown that the ground states are three (four)-fold topologically degenerate on a torus, when $\nu$ is an odd (even) number. These exactly solvable models can be achieved by quantum simulations.

• The inheritance of energy conditions: Revisiting no-go theorems in string compactifications

  One of the fundamental challenges in string theory is to derive realistic four-dimensional cosmological backgrounds from it despite strict consistency conditions that constrain its possible low-energy backgrounds. In this work, we focus on energy conditions as covariant and background-independent consistency requirements in order to classify possible backgrounds coming from low-energy string theory in two steps. Firstly, we show how supergravity actions obey many relevant energy conditions under some reasonable assumptions. Remarkably, we find that the energy conditions are satisfied even in the presence of objects which individually violate them due to the tadpole cancellation condition. Thereafter, we list a set of conditions for a higher-dimensional energy condition to imply the corresponding lower-dimensional one, thereby categorizing the allowed low-energy solutions. As for any no-go theorem, our aim is to highlight the assumptions that must be circumvented for deriving four-dimensional spacetimes that necessarily violate these energy conditions, with emphasis on cosmological backgrounds.

• Pressure-dependent structural and electronic instabilities in LaSb$_2$

  LaSb$_2$ exhibits a large, non-saturating, linear magnetoresistance at low temperatures, defying the expectations of Fermi liquid theory. This is thought to be caused by charge density wave order emerging below an abrupt, hysteretic anomaly in the resistivity at $\sim$ 355 K. We find that, under hydrostatic pressure, this anomaly becomes much more pronounced, develops strong hysteresis, and shifts rapidly towards lower temperatures. The anomaly is fully suppressed by only 6 kbar. Moreover, we observe a second transition anomaly at lower temperature, which likewise disappears under pressure. These findings are discussed in the context of a structural transition recently discovered in the sister material CeSb$_2$ and of density functional theory calculations, which indicate that the SmSb$_2$-type structure adopted by LaSb$_2$ at ambient conditions is unstable at moderate applied pressures.

• Central dileption production in proton-proton collisions with rapidity gap and with forward protons

  We discuss photon-photon fusion mechanisms of dilepton production in proton-proton collisions with rapidity gap in the main detector and one forward proton in the forward proton detectors. This is relevant for the LHC measurements by ATLAS+AFP and CMS+PPS. Transverse momenta of the intermediate photons are taken into account and photon fluxes are expressed in terms of proton electromagnetic form factors and structure functions. Both double-elastic and single-dissociative processes are included in the analysis. Different parametrizations of the structure functions are used. Some differential distributions are presented. Some differences with respect to the results without proton measurement are discussed.

• Magnetic properties of a multicomponent intermetallic compound Tb$_{0.25}$Dy$_{0.25}$Ho$_{0.25}$Er$_{0.25}$Al$_2$

  Polycrystalline multicomponent Laves phase rare earth intermetallic compound Tb$_{0.25}$ Dy$_{0.25}$Ho$_{0.25}$Er$_{0.25}$Al$_{2}$ has been synthesized by arc-melting and characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, magnetization and heat capacity measurements. The sample has MgCu$_2$-type cubic structure (space group Fd-3m) at 300 K. The compound Tb$_{0.25}$Dy$_{0.25}$Ho$_{0.25}$Er$_{0.25}$ Al$_{2}$ orders ferromagnetically at 50 K (T$_C$). This value is almost equal to the average of the ferromagnetic ordering temperatures of the individual RAl$_2$ (R = Tb, Dy, Ho and Er) compounds. Field dependence of magnetization below T$_C$ indicates soft-ferromagnetic nature. From the magnetization vs field data obtained near T$_C$ and the temperature dependence of heat capacity, low field magnetocaloric effect has been estimated.

  Searches for new physics at the Large Hadron Collider have constrained many models of physics beyond the Standard Model. Many searches also provide resources that allow them to be reinterpreted in the context of other models. We describe a reinterpretation pipeline that examines previously untested models of new physics using supplementary information from ATLAS Supersymmetry (SUSY) searches in a way that provides accurate constraints even for models that differ meaningfully from the benchmark models of the original analysis. The public analysis information, such as public analysis routines and serialized probability models, is combined with common event generation and simulation toolkits MADGRAPH, PYTHIA8, and DELPHES into workflows steered by TOML configuration files, and bundled into the mapyde Python package. The use of mapyde is demonstrated by constraining previously untested SUSY models with compressed sleptons and electroweakinos using ATLAS results.

• Tau neutrinos in IceCube, KM3NeT and the Pierre Auger Observatory

  In 2018, the IceCube collaboration reported evidence for the identification of a blazar as an astrophysical neutrino source. That evidence is briefly summarised here before focusing on the prospects of tau neutrino physics in IceCube, both at high energies (astrophysical neutrinos) and at lower energies (atmospheric neutrino oscillations). In addition, future neutrino detectors such as KM3NeT and the IceCube Upgrade and their tau neutrino physics potential are discussed. Finally, the detection mechanism for high-energy (tau) neutrinos in the Pierre Auger Observatory and the resulting flux upper limits are presented.
