• Renormalizable extension of the Abelian Higgs-Kibble model with a dim.6 derivative operator

  We present a new approach to the consistent subtraction of a non power-counting renormalizable extension of the Abelian Higgs-Kibble (HK) model supplemented by a dim. 6 derivative-dependent operator controlled by the parameter $z$. A field-theoretic representation of the physical Higgs scalar by a gauge-invariant variable is used in order to formulate the theory by exploiting a novel differential equation, controlling the dependence of the quantized theory on $z$. These results pave the way to the consistent subtraction by a finite number of physical parameters of some non-power-counting renormalizable models possibly of direct relevance to the study of the Higgs potential at the LHC.

• Exact effective action for the O(N) vector model in the large N limit

  We present the Wilsonian effective action as a solution of the exact RG equation for the critical $O(N)$ vector model in the large $N$ limit. Below four dimensions, the exact effective action can be expressed in a closed form as a transcendental function of two leading scaling operators with infinitely many derivatives. From the exact solution that describes the RG flow from a UV theory to the fixed point theory in the IR, we obtain the mapping between UV operators and IR scaling operators. It is shown that IR scaling operators are given by sums of infinitely many UV operators with infinitely many derivatives.

• Precision measurements of jet and photon production at the ATLAS experiment

  The production of jets and prompt isolated photons at hadron colliders provides stringent tests of perturbative QCD. We present the latest measurements of photon+jets and diphoton production using proton-proton collision data collected by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. The measurements are compared to state-of-the-art NLO and NNLO predictions.

• Anti-holomorphic modes in vortex lattices

  A continuum theory of linearized Helmholtz-Kirchoff point vortex dynamics about a steadily rotating lattice state is developed by two separate methods: firstly by a direct procedure, secondly by taking the long-wavelength limit of Tkachenko's exact solution for a triangular vortex lattice. Solutions to the continuum theory are found, described by arbitrary anti-holomorphic functions, and give power-law localized edge modes. Numerical results for finite lattices show excellent agreement to the theory.

• Quantum state preparation of topological chiral spin liquids via Floquet engineering

  In condensed matter, Chiral Spin Liquids (CSL) are quantum spin analogs of electronic Fractional Quantum Hall states (in the continuum) or Fractional Chern Insulators (on the lattice). As the latter, CSL are remarkable states of matter, exhibiting topological order and chiral edge modes. Preparing CSL on quantum simulators like cold atom platforms is still an open challenge. Here we propose a simple setup on a finite cluster of spin-1/2 located at the sites of a square lattice. Using a Resonating Valence Bond (RVB) non-chiral spin liquid as initial state on which fast time-modulations of strong nearest-neighbor Heisenberg couplings are applied, following different protocols (out-of-equilibrium quench or semi-adiabatic ramping of the drive), we show the slow emergence of such a CSL phase. An effective Floquet dynamics, obtained from a high-frequency Magnus expansion of the drive Hamiltonian, provides a very accurate and simple framework fully capturing the out-of-equilibrium dynamics. An analysis of the resulting prepared states in term of Projected Entangled Pair states gives further insights on the topological nature of the chiral phase. Finally, we discuss possible applications to quantum computing.

• Development of the ATLAS Liquid Argon Calorimeter Readout Electronics for the HL-LHC

  The full ATLAS Liquid Argon Calorimeter electronic readout chain will be upgraded for the high-luminosity LHC. The upgrade is designed to withstand the expected radiation level and to be compatible with the Phase-I Digital Trigger System which is being installed right now. Analogue electronics shape and amplify the calorimeter signals before they are digitized with 16 bit dynamic range on two gain scales. The on-detector system samples the calorimeter cell signals at 40 MHz and sends them to the off-detector electronics which apply digital processing based on FPGAs. • Accessing quark GPDs in diffractive events at an electron-ion collider

  We discuss two collider processes which combine a diffractively produced $\rho$ meson separated by a large rapidity gap from a hard exclusive scattering of a Pomeron on a nucleon, giving rise to a lepton pair or to a second meson. These two processes probe the nucleon quark content described by generalized parton distributions in a very specific way.

• Impact of W and Z Production Data and Compatibility of Neutrino DIS Data in Nuclear Parton Distribution Functions

  Vector boson production and neutrino deep-inelastic scattering (DIS) data are crucial for constraining the strange quark parton distribution function (PDF) and more generally for flavor decomposition in PDF extractions. We extend the nCTEQ15 nuclear PDFs (nPDFs) by adding the recent $W$ and $Z$ production data from the LHC in a global nPDF fit. The new nPDF set, referred to as nCTEQ15WZ, is used as a starting point for a follow-up study in which we assess the compatibility of neutrino DIS data with charged lepton DIS data. Specifically, we re-analyze neutrino DIS data from NuTeV, Chorus, and CDHSW, as well as dimuon data from CCFR and NuTeV. To scrutinize the level of compatibility, different kinematic regions of the neutrino data are investigated. Fits to the neutrino data alone and a preliminary global fit are performed and compared to nCTEQ15WZ.

• The tower of Kontsevich deformations for Nambu-Poisson structures on $\mathbb{R}^d$: Dimension-specific micro-graph calculus

  In Kontsevich's graph calculus, internal vertices of directed graphs are inhabited by multi - vectors, e.g., Poisson bi - vectors; the Nambu - determinant Poisson brackets are differential - polynomial in the Casimir(s) and density $\varrho$ times Levi - Civita symbol. We resolve the old vertices into subgraphs such that every new internal vertex contains one Casimir or one Levi - Civita symbol×$\varrho$. Using this micro - graph calculus, we show that Kontsevich's tetrahedral $\gamma_3$-flow on the space of Nambu - determinant Poisson brackets over $\mathbb{R}^3$ is a Poisson coboundary: we realize the trivializing vector field $\vec{X}$ over $\mathbb{R}^3$ using micro - graphs. This $\vec{X}$ projects to the known trivializing vector field for the $\gamma_3$-flow over $\mathbb{R}^2$.

• Concentration of quantum equilibration and an estimate of the recurrence time

  We show that the dynamics of generic quantum systems concentrate around their equilibrium value when measuring at arbitrary times. This means that the probability of finding such values away from that equilibrium is exponentially suppressed, with a decay rate given by the effective dimension. Our result allows us to place a lower bound on the recurrence time of quantum systems, since recurrences corresponds to the rare events of finding a state away from equilibrium. In many-body systems, this bound is doubly exponential in system size. We also show corresponding results for free fermions, which display a weaker concentration and earlier recurrences.
