Proposal for simplified template cross-sections extension using $\mathcal{CP}$ observables in $t\overline{t}H$

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) offers a unique opportunity to investigate $\mathcal{CP}$ violation in the Yukawa coupling between the Higgs boson and the top quark by studying Higgs production in association with top quarks; this is of fundamental importance, seeing that the $\mathcal{CP}$ properties of the Higgs boson are yet to measure with high precision. To address this, the focus of this work has been an extension of the simplified template cross-section (STXS) framework, devised to be sensitive to $\mathcal{CP}$ effects. Our study focused on $\mathcal{CP}$-sensitive observables across multiple Higgs decay channels, comparing their performances. The result indicates that the most efficient extension of the current binning used in the STXS framework, which currently uses the Higgs boson's transverse momentum $p_{T,H}$, requires adding one further split using $\mathcal{CP}$-sensitive observables. Between these observables, one of the best is the Collins-Soper angle $|\cos\theta^*|$, a variable derived from momenta information of the top quarks. We have investigated the improvement brought by our two-dimensional STXS setup and compared it to the currently employed methodologies, finding an increase in performances at an integrated luminosity of $300 \mathrm{ fb}^{-1}$. Moreover, our results highlight that this advantage seems to be present also at $3000 \mathrm{ fb}^{-1}$.
Update on the angular resolution of GRAPES-3 experiment based on Moon shadow analysis

GRAPES-3 is an extensive air shower array located at Ooty (11.6$^\circ$N, 76.7$^\circ$E, 2200 m a.s.l.) in southern India. Recently, the angular resolution of the GRAPES-3 array has been improved by correcting the shower front curvature based on the shower size and age. Here, we present the results of the angular resolution and pointing accuracy of the array through observation of the Moon shadow. We have analyzed the data for the period of 2014-2016 containing $\sim$ 3$×$10$^9$ air shower events with a median energy of 15 TeV. A significant improvement in the angular resolution has been observed compared to the earlier analysis by the group through the Moon shadow method and is comparable to the arrays located at a 2 km higher altitude than the GRAPES-3 experiment.
Characterizing far from equilibrium states of the one-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation

We use the mathematical toolbox of the inverse scattering transform to study quantita- tively the number of solitons in far from equilibrium one-dimensional systems described by the defocusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation. We present a simple method to iden- tify the discrete eigenvalues in the Lax spectrum and provide a extensive benchmark of its efficiency. Our method can be applied in principle to all physical systems described by the defocusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation and allows to identify the solitons velocity distribution in numerical simulations and possibly experiments.

This study presents a novel method for the definition of signal regions in searches for new physics at collider experiments. By leveraging multi-dimensional histograms with precise arithmetic and utilizing the SparkDensityTree library, it is possible to identify high-density regions within the available phase space, potentially improving sensitivity to very small signals. Inspired by a search for dark mesons at the ATLAS experiment, CMS open data is used for this proof-of-concept intentionally targeting an already excluded signal. Signal regions are defined based on density estimates of signal and background. These preliminary regions align well with the physical properties of the signal while effectively rejecting background events.
Measuring the light meson nuclear modification factor in p-Pb collisions over an unprecedented $p_{\text{T}}$ range with ALICE

Differential invariant cross sections of light neutral mesons in p-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\text{NN}}}$ = 8.16 TeV and in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 8 TeV have been measured up to very high transverse momentum ($p_{\text{T}}$). By combining independent reconstruction techniques available in ALICE using the EMCal and PHOS calorimeters as well as the central barrel tracking detectors, the combined spectra cover almost two orders of magnitude in $p_{\rm T}$ for the $\pi^{0}$ meson. The nuclear modification factor $R_{\text{pPb}}$ has been measured for the $\pi^{0}$ and $\eta$ mesons and is found to be consistent with NLO pQCD, CGC and energy loss calculations. Comparisons to the $R_{\text{pPb}}$ of $\pi^{0}$ measured in $\sqrt{s_{\text{NN}}}$ = 5.02 TeV hint at a stronger suppression at low $p_{\rm T}$ with increasing collision energy.
The two critical temperatures conundrum in La$_{1.83}$Sr$_{0.17}$CuO$_4$

The in-plane and out-of-plane superconducting stiffness of ${\rm La}^{\vphantom{\dagger}}_{1.83}{\rm Sr}^{\vphantom{\dagger}}_{0.17}{\rm CuO}^{\vphantom{\dagger}}_4$ rings appear to vanish at different transition temperatures, which contradicts thermodynamical expectation. In addition, we observe a surprisingly strong dependence of the out-of-plane stiffness transition on sample width. With evidence from Monte Carlo simulations, this effect is explained by very small ratio $\alpha$ of inter-plane over intra-plane Josephson couplings. For three dimensional rings of millimeter dimensions, a crossover from layered three dimensional to quasi one dimensional behavior occurs at temperatures near the thermodynamic transition temperature ${T_{\rm c}}$, and the out-of-plane stiffness appears to vanish below ${T_{\rm c}}$ by a temperature shift of order $\alpha L_a/{\xi^{\parallel}}$, where $L_a/{\xi^{\parallel}}$ is the sample's width over coherence length. Including the effects of layer-correlated disorder, the measured temperature shifts can be fit by a value of $\alpha=4.1× 10^{-5}$, near ${T_{\rm c}}$, which is significantly lower than its previously measured value near zero temperature.
On irregularities in the cosmic ray spectrum of $10^{16}-10^{18}$ eV range

Existing small, medium and large arrays for the study of cosmic rays of ultra-high energies are aimed for obtaining information about our galaxy and extragalactic space, namely to search and study astronomical objects that produce the flux of relativistic particles. The drift and interaction of such particles with magnetic fields and shock waves taking place in interstellar space causes the same interest. The shape of the energy spectrum of cosmic rays in the energy range $10^{15}-10^{18}$ eV, where the "knee" and the "second knee" are observed, can be formed as a superposition of the partial spectra of various chemical elements. Verification of galactic models, using recent experimental spectral data, makes it possible to study the nature of the galactic and extragalactic components of cosmic rays. The paper presents the result of the energy spectrum of cosmic rays in the range $10^{16}-10^{18}$ eV of measurements obtained with the Small Cherenkov array - a part of the Yakutsk array.
$e^+e^-$ hadronic cross-sections with SND detector at VEPP 2000

Data with an integrated luminosity of about 370 pb$^{-1}$ have been collected with the SND detector at the VEPP-2000 $e^+e^-$ collider. Here we present recent results on $e^+e^-$ annihilation into hadrons below 2 GeV based on a part of these data. In particular, we discuss measurements of the $e^+e^-\to \pi^+\pi^-$, $e^+e^- \to n\bar{n}$, $e^+e^- \to p\bar{p}$, and $e^+e^-\to \pi^+\pi^-\pi^0\pi^0$ cross sections, and study of the processes $e^+e^-\to \pi^+\pi^-\pi^0$, $e^+e^-\to K^+K^-\pi^0$, $e^+e^- \to \eta\pi^0 \gamma$, and $e^+e^- \to \eta \eta \gamma$.
Recent results from LHCb for astroparticle physics

The LHCb experiment is a general-purpose forward spectrometer designed for the study of heavy flavour physics at the LHC. The acceptance in the pseudorapidity range $2 < \eta < 5$ with full tracking and particle identification capabilities down to very small transverse momentum make LHCb also ideal to study hadron production in the forward region. Measuring and modelling these processes is essential for the simulation of interactions of high-energy cosmic rays with matter, like Earth's atmosphere or the interstellar medium. We present recently published analyses from the LHCb collaboration relevant for this application.
A measurement of the proton plus helium spectrum of cosmic rays in the TeV region with HAWC

HAWC is an air-shower detector designed to study TeV gamma and cosmic rays. The observatory is composed of a 22000 $m^2$ array of 300 water Cherenkov tanks (4.5 m deep x 7.3 m diameter) with 4 photomultipliers (PMT) each. The instrument registers the number of hit PMTs, the timing information and the total charge at the PMTs during the event. From these data, shower observables such as the arrival direction, the core position at ground, the lateral age and the primary energy are estimated. In this work, we study the distribution of the shower age vs the primary energy of a sample of shower data collected by HAWC from June 2015 to June 2019 and employ a shower-age cut based on predictions of QGSJET-II-04 to separate a subsample of events dominated by H and He primaries. Using these data and a dedicated analysis, we reconstruct the cosmic ray spectrum of H+He from 6 to 158 TeV, which shows the presence of a softening at around 24 TeV with a statistical significance of 4.1$\sigma$.
