Single-Logarithmic Corrections to Small-$x$ Helicity Evolution

The small-$x$ quark helicity evolution equations at double-logarithmic order, with the kernel $\sim\alpha_s\ln^2(1/x)$, have been derived previously. In this work, we derive the single-logarithmic corrections to the equations, to order $\alpha_s\ln(1/x)$ of the evolution kernel. The new equations include the effects of the running coupling and the unpolarized small-$x$ evolution, both of which are parametrically significant at single-logarithmic order. The large-$N_c$ and large-$N_c\& N_f$ approximations to the equation are computed. (Here, $N_c$ and $N_f$ are the numbers of quark colors and flavors, respectively.) Their solutions will provide more precise estimates of the quark helicity distribution at small $x$, contributing to the resolution of the proton spin puzzle.

Implementing Transverse Momentum Dependent splitting functions in Parton Branching evolution equations

The Parton Branching (PB) approach describes the evolution of transverse momentum dependent (TMD) parton densities. We propose to extend the PB method by including TMD splitting functions, instead of the DGLAP splitting functions which assume strong ordering in transverse momentum. We present the evolution equations and their numerical solution, which is the first Monte Carlo implementation including TMD splitting functions.

A model for $F_L$ structure function at low values of $Q^2$ and $x$ - revisited

A reanalysis of the model for the longitudinal structure function $F_L (x,Q^2)$ at low $x$ and low $Q^2$ was undertaken, in view of the advent of the EIC. The model includes the kinematic constraint $F_L\sim Q^4$ as $Q^2\rightarrow$ 0. It is based on the photon-gluon fusion mechanism suitably extrapolated to the region of low $Q^2$. Revised model was critically updated, extended to the EIC kinematic region, and e.g. contains new parameterisations of the parton distribution functions.

Impact of LHC dijet production in pp and pPb collisions on the nNNPDF2.0 nuclear PDFs

We quantify the impact of LHC dijet production measurements on the nNNPDF2.0 nuclear PDFs in twofold. First, from a proton baseline based on NNPDF3.1 and augmented by pp dijet production measurements from ATLAS and CMS at 7 and 8 TeV. Second, from a new nNNPDF2.0 global analysis including the ratio of pPb to pp dijet spectra from CMS at 5 TeV. We show that as opposed to the CMS at 5 TeV absolute pp and pPb dijet spectra, the pPb/pp ratio is well described in a nPDFs fit and provides strong constraints on the gluon of lead.

Dark matter bound states: A window into the early universe

Despite significant experimental sensitivity to point-like, weakly interacting particles at the electroweak mass scale, dark matter has not been found yet. This could hint at a more complex dark sector with multiple states or composite dark particles, much like the complexity of the standard model. Currently, our experimental sensitivity to such scenarios is limited by a lack of theoretical understanding. The investigation of Dark Matter systems with unstable or stable bound states provides a playground that leads to the development of important tools needed for the understanding of dark sectors with complex phenomena and allows to experimentally test well-motivated DM scenarios.

PineAPPL: NLO EW corrections for PDF processes

Modern parton distribution function (PDF) determinations either neglect higher-order corrections in the electroweak (EW) coupling or implement them approximately for a subset of PDF processes. We present a new tool, PineAPPL, which supports perturbative correction in arbitrary powers of the EW and strong coupling constant, and stores theoretical predictions independently of the used PDFs in so-called interpolation grids. These are the foundation of any PDF determination, and will allow us to perform a PDF fit taking into account EW corrections for all processes consistently. Apart from PDF determinations PineAPPL can also be used in precision phenomenology to study the impact of different choices of PDF sets, without rerunning the time-consuming computation. As an application of this tool we show Drell-Yan (DY) lepton-pair production were larger effects of NLO EW corrections can be seen that will potentially influence the PDF fit and comment about which observables are particularly suited and NLO EW PDF fit and which are not.

The high-temperature expansion of the thermal sunset

We give a prescription for calculating the high-temperature expansion of the thermal sunset integral to arbitrary order. We derive all terms odd in $T$, and rederive previous results up to $\mathcal{O}(T^0) $ for both bosonic and fermionic thermal sunsets in dimensional regularisation. We perform analytical and numerical cross-checks. Intermediate steps involve integrals over three Bessel functions.

Connected and Disconnected Sea Partons from CT18 Parametrization of PDFs

The separation of the connected and disconnected sea partons, which were uncovered in the Euclidean path-integral formulation of the hadronic tensor, is accommodated with the CT18 parametrization of the global analysis of the parton distribution functions (PDFs). This is achieved with the help of the distinct small $x$ behaviors of these two sea parton components and the constraint from the lattice calculation of the ratio of the strange momentum fraction to that of the ${\bar u}$ or ${\bar d}$ in the disconnected insertion. This allows lattice calculations of separate flavors in both the connected and disconnected insertions to be directly compared with the global analysis results term by term.

Open strange meson $K^\pm_1$ in hot and dense nuclear matter

Using the unification of the chiral SU(3) model and QCD sum rules, we deduce the in-medium properties of $K^\pm_1$ meson. Within the chiral SU(3) model, medium modified gluon and quark condensates are evaluated through their interactions with the scalar fields ($\sigma$, $\zeta$, $\delta$, and $\chi$). These condensates are further used as input in the Borel transformed equations of QCD sum rules to evaluate the in-medium mass of strange $K^\pm_1$ meson. The in-medium property of the above meson can be used to study the restoration of chiral symmetry in nuclear matter.

Probing lepton universality with (semi)-leptonic B decays

The most recent measurements of the observables $R_{D^{(*)}}$ are in tension with the Standard Model offering hints of New Physics in $b\rightarrow c \ell \bar{\nu}_{\ell}$ transitions. Motivated by these results, in this work we present an analysis on their $b\rightarrow u \ell \bar{\nu}_{\ell}$ counterparts (for $\ell=e, ~\mu, ~\tau$). Our study has three main objectives. Firstly, using ratios of branching fractions, we assess the effects of beyond the Standard Model scalar and pseudoscalar particles in leptonic and semileptonic $B$ decays ($B^-\rightarrow \ell^- \bar{\nu}_{\ell}$, $\bar{B}\rightarrow \pi \ell \bar{\nu}_{\ell}$ and $\bar{B}\rightarrow \rho \ell \bar{\nu}_{\ell}$). Here a key role is played by the leptonic $B$ processes, which are highly sensitive to new pseudoscalar interactions. In particular, we take advantage of the most recent measurement of the branching fraction of the channel $B^-\rightarrow \mu^-\bar{\nu}_{\mu}$ by the Belle collaboration. Secondly, we extract the CKM matrix element $|V_{ub}|$ while accounting simultaneously for New Physics contributions. Finally, we provide predictions for the branching fractions of yet unmeasured leptonic and semileptonic $B$ decays.
