The ATLAS Tile Calorimeter performance and its upgrade towards the High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider

The Tile Calorimeter (TileCal) is a sampling calorimeter that forms the central region of the hadronic calorimeter of the ATLAS experiment. This sub-detector is to undergo its Phase-II upgrade during long-shutdown 3, in the years from 2025 to mid 2027, in preparation for the start of operation of the High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) in 2027. In this proceeding, an overview of the TileCal HL-LHC on-detector electronics upgrade is provided. The detectors Run-II performance in the cases of EM scale calibration, calorimeter response, cell energy distribution and noise as well as a portion of the 2015-2018 Test-beam campaigns results are examined.
ATLAS LAr Calorimeter commissioning for LHC Run-3

The ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) measures proton--proton collisions at high energies. Within the Phase-I upgrade of the LHC before the start of Run-3 in 2022, the trigger system of the Liquid Argon calorimeter of ATLAS is being prepared to cope with an increased number of simultaneous proton--proton collisions. In the back-end of this new trigger system, the LATOME boards will be responsible for the computation of the energies deposited in the calorimeter. The commissioning of this computation within the LATOME is presented.
Exclusive electro-weak production of a charmed meson at high energy

Exclusive electro-weak processes have peculiar features which make them complementary to usually discussed deeply virtual electroproduction processes such as deep virtual Compton scattering or meson production (and the corresponding crossed reactions). They allow in particular single charmed meson production, which we study in two different contexts : electroproduction at an electron ion collider and neutrino-production at a medium energy neutrino facility. We rely on the QCD collinear factorization framework where generalized parton distributions allow physicists to perform a nucleon tomography.
Transverse spin asymmetries for inclusive $\rho^0$ production in SIDIS at COMPASS

The production of vector mesons in SIDIS is a particularly interesting channel to study the polarized fragmentation and related phenomena. Preliminary COMPASS results for the first measurement of inclusive $\rho^0$ Collins and Sivers transverse-spin asymmetries are presented here for the first time. The analysis is based on the data-set collected by COMPASS in $2010$ using a $160\, \rm{GeV}/c$ $\mu^+$ beam and a transversely polarized $NH_3$ target. The asymmetries are extracted as function of Bjorken-$x$, of the total transverse momentum of the oppositely charged hadron pair and of the fraction of available energy $z$ carried by the pair. Indications for positive Collins and Sivers asymmetries are obtained as expected from models.
Hyperon physics at BESIII

Spin polarization and entanglement are utilized by the BESIII experiment to learn more about the production and decay properties of hyperon-antihyperon pairs in a series of recent analyses of its unprecedented datasets at the $J/\psi$ and $\psi'$ resonances. This has lead to the observation of significant transverse polarisation in decays of $J/\psi$ or $\psi'$ into $\Lambda \bar{\Lambda}$, $\Sigma \bar{\Sigma}$, $\Xi \bar{\Xi}$, and $\Omega \bar{\Omega}$. Because of the non-zero polarization, the decay parameters for the most common hadronic weak decays of both hyperons and antihyperons could be determined independently for the first time. Comparing these to each other yields precise tests of direct, $\Delta S = 1$ CP-violation that complement measurements of kaon decays.
How the blast-wave model describes PID hadron spectra from 5 TeV p-Pb collisions

The blast-wave (BW) spectrum model has been applied extensively to nucleus-nucleus collision data with the intention to demonstrate formation of a quark-gluon plasma (QGP) in more-central A-A collisions. More recently the BW model has been applied to p-p, d-Au and p-Pb collisions. Such results are interpreted to indicate that "collectivity" (flows) and QGP appear in smaller systems. In this talk I review BW analysis of identified-hadron spectra from 5 TeV p-Pb collisions and examine the shape evolution of model spectra with collision centrality. I evaluate data-model fit quality using conventional statistical measures. I conclude that the BW model is not a valid data model.
All order merging of high energy and soft collinear resummation

We present a method of merging the exclusive LO-matched high energy resummation of High Energy Jets (HEJ) with the parton shower of PYTHIA which preserves the accuracy of the LO cross sections and the logarithmic accuracy of both resummation schemes across all of phase space. Predictions produced with this merging prescription are presented with comparisons to data from experimental studies and suggestions are made for further observables and experimental cuts which highlight the importance of both high energy and soft-collinear effects.
Study of charmonium(-like) spectroscopy and decay at BESIII

The recent results on Charmonium and Charmonium-like states at BESIII are reviewed, including the observation of $\rm Z_{cs}(3985)$ state, the study of the new decay modes of $\psi_2(3823)$ state, observation of resonance structure in $\rm e^+e^- \to \pi^+\pi^-\psi_2(3823)$ process, the study of the $\rm e^+e^- \to K^+K^-J/\psi$ process, cross section measurement of $\rm e^+e^- \to \omega\pi^0$ and $\omega\eta$ process, branching fraction measurement of $\psi(3686)\to\bar{\Sigma}^0\Lambda + c.c.$ process. Decay channels for $\chi_{cJ} \to \Lambda\bar{\Lambda}$, $\chi_{cJ} \to \Lambda\bar{\Lambda}\eta$, $\psi(3686) \to \Lambda\bar{\Lambda}\omega$ and $\eta_c(2S)\to3(\pi^+\pi^-)$ are also discussed. The property of the spin singlet P wave Charmonium state, $\rm h_c$ is also reported.
Precision measurements of jet and photon production at the ATLAS experiment

The production of jets and prompt isolated photons at hadron colliders provides stringent tests of perturbative QCD. We present the latest measurements of photon+jets and diphoton production using proton-proton collision data collected by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. The measurements are compared to state-of-the-art NLO and NNLO predictions.
High-energy logarithmic corrections to the QCD component of same-sign W-pair production

We describe the calculation of the QCD contribution to same-sign $W$-pair production, $pp\to e^\pm \nu_e \mu^\pm \nu_\mu jj$, resumming all contributions scaling as $\alpha_W^4 \alpha_s^{2+k}\log^k(\hat s/p_\perp^2)$ [arXiv:2107.06818]. These leading logarithmic contributions are enhanced by typical cuts used for Vector Boson Scattering (VBS) studies. We show that while the cross sections are little affected by these corrections, other more exclusive observables relevant for experimental studies are affected more significantly.
