• How the blast-wave model describes PID hadron spectra from 5 TeV p-Pb collisions

  The blast-wave (BW) spectrum model has been applied extensively to nucleus-nucleus collision data with the intention to demonstrate formation of a quark-gluon plasma (QGP) in more-central A-A collisions. More recently the BW model has been applied to p-p, d-Au and p-Pb collisions. Such results are interpreted to indicate that "collectivity" (flows) and QGP appear in smaller systems. In this talk I review BW analysis of identified-hadron spectra from 5 TeV p-Pb collisions and examine the shape evolution of model spectra with collision centrality. I evaluate data-model fit quality using conventional statistical measures. I conclude that the BW model is not a valid data model.

• Three-loop soft anomalous dimensions for top-quark processes

  I present results for soft anomalous dimensions through three loops for several processes involving the production of top quarks. In particular, I discuss single-top and top-pair production. I also present some numerical results for double-differential distributions in $t{\bar t}$ production through approximate N$^3$LO.

• Feedback cooling of fermionic atoms in optical lattices

  We discuss the preparation of topological insulator states with fermionic ultracold atoms in optical lattices by means of measurement-based Markovian feedback control. The designed measurement and feedback operators induce an effective dissipative channel that stabilizes the desired insulator state, either in an exact way or approximately in the case where additional experimental constraints are assumed. Successful state preparation is demonstrated in one-dimensional insulators as well as for Haldane's Chern insulator, by calculating the fidelity between the target ground state and the steady state of the feedback-modified master equation. The fidelity is obtained numerically through exact diagonalization or via time evolution of the system with moderate sizes. For larger 2D systems, we compare the mean occupation of the single-particle eigenstates for the ground and steady state computed through mean-field kinetic equations.

• Latest ALICE results on J/$ψ$ photoproduction in ultra-peripheral collisions at the LHC

  Ultra-peripheral collisions (UPCs), studied using the ALICE detector, allow us to investigate the low-$x$ behavior of the gluon distribution of the colliding particles. Two new measurements of coherent J/$\psi$ photoproduction cross section from Pb-Pb UPCs at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}=5.02$ TeV are presented: the first measurement of the $|t|$-dependence of the cross section providing a new tool to investigate the transverse gluonic structure at low Bjorken-$x$ and a rapidity-differential measurement at midrapidity allowing us to provide stringent constraints on nuclear gluon shadowing and saturation models. In addition, prospects for heavy vector meson photoproduction measurements in LHC Run 3 and 4 are presented.

• Hyperon physics at BESIII

  Spin polarization and entanglement are utilized by the BESIII experiment to learn more about the production and decay properties of hyperon-antihyperon pairs in a series of recent analyses of its unprecedented datasets at the $J/\psi$ and $\psi'$ resonances. This has lead to the observation of significant transverse polarisation in decays of $J/\psi$ or $\psi'$ into $\Lambda \bar{\Lambda}$, $\Sigma \bar{\Sigma}$, $\Xi \bar{\Xi}$, and $\Omega \bar{\Omega}$. Because of the non-zero polarization, the decay parameters for the most common hadronic weak decays of both hyperons and antihyperons could be determined independently for the first time. Comparing these to each other yields precise tests of direct, $\Delta S = 1$ CP-violation that complement measurements of kaon decays.

• Competition of light- and phonon-dressing in microwave-dressed Bose polarons

  We theoretically investigate the stationary properties of a spin-1/2 impurity immersed in a one-dimensional confined Bose gas. In particular, we consider coherently coupled spin states with an external field, where only one spin component interacts with the bath, enabling light dressing of the impurity and spin-dependent bath-impurity interactions. Through detailed comparisons with ab-initio many-body simulations, we demonstrate that the composite system is accurately described by a simplified effective Hamiltonian. The latter builds upon previously developed effective potential approaches in the absence of light dressing. It can be used to extract the impurity energy, residue, effective mass, and anharmonicity induced by the phononic dressing. Light-dressing is shown to increase the polaron residue, undressing the impurity from phononic excitations because of strong spin coupling. For strong repulsions, previously shown to trigger dynamical Bose polaron decay (a phenomenon called temporal orthogonality catastrophe), it is explained that strong light-dressing stabilizes a repulsive polaron-dressed state. Our results establish the effective Hamiltonian framework as a powerful tool for exploring strongly interacting polaronic systems and corroborating forthcoming experimental realizations.

• Resummation of the Sivers asymmetry in heavy flavor dijet production at the Electron-Ion Collider

  We review our transverse momentum dependent factorization and resummation formalism for heavy flavor dijet production at the EIC. In this formalism, we have calculated the heavy flavor mass corrections in the collinear-soft and jet functions, and in the resummed expression for the cross section. By establishing this formalism, we then study the effects of the mass corrections by providing predictions at the EIC for the massive case and for the case where the mass is neglected. We find that the heavy flavor mass effects can give sizable corrections to the predicted asymmetry.

• Quasi-free limit in the deuteron-deuteron three-body break-up process

  Detailed measurements of vector and tensor analyzing powers of the 2H(d, dp)n breakup process are presented. The data were obtained using a polarized deuteron-beam with an energy of 65 MeV/nucleon impinging on a liquid-deuterium target. The experiment was conducted at the AGOR facility at KVI using the BINA 4Pi-detection system. The focus of this contribution is to analyze data of the dd scattering process in the regime at which the neutron acts as a spectator, which we refer to as the quasi-free (QF) limit. To achieve this, events for which the final-state deuteron and proton are coplanar have been analyzed and the data have been sorted for various reconstructed momenta of the missing neutron. In the limit of vanishing neutron momentum and at small deuteron-proton momentum transfer, the data match very well with measured and predicted spin observables of the elastic deuteron-proton scattering process. The agreement deteriorates rapidly with increasing neutron momentum and deuteron-proton momentum transfer. The results of coplanar configurations in four-body phase space are compared with the results of recent available theoretical calculations based on the Single-Scattering Approximation.

• An algebraic approach to intertwined quantum phase transitions in the Zr isotopes

  The algebraic framework of the interacting boson model with configuration mixing is employed to demonstrate the occurrence of intertwined quantum phase transitions (IQPTs) in the $_{40}$Zr isotopes with neutron number 52-70. The detailed quantum and classical analyses reveal a QPT of crossing normal and intruder configurations superimposed on a QPT of the intruder configuration from U(5) to SU(3) and a crossover from SU(3) to SO(6) dynamical symmetries.

• ATLAS LAr Calorimeter commissioning for LHC Run-3

  The ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) measures proton--proton collisions at high energies. Within the Phase-I upgrade of the LHC before the start of Run-3 in 2022, the trigger system of the Liquid Argon calorimeter of ATLAS is being prepared to cope with an increased number of simultaneous proton--proton collisions. In the back-end of this new trigger system, the LATOME boards will be responsible for the computation of the energies deposited in the calorimeter. The commissioning of this computation within the LATOME is presented.
