• Unraveling complexity: Singular value decomposition in complex experimental data analysis

  Analyzing complex experimental data with multiple parameters is challenging. We propose using Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) as an effective solution. This method, demonstrated through real experimental data analysis, surpasses conventional approaches in understanding complex physics data. Singular values and vectors distinguish and highlight various physical mechanisms and scales, revealing previously challenging elements. SVD emerges as a powerful tool for navigating complex experimental landscapes, showing promise for diverse experimental measurements.

• High-energy logarithmic corrections to the QCD component of same-sign W-pair production

  We describe the calculation of the QCD contribution to same-sign $W$-pair production, $pp\to e^\pm \nu_e \mu^\pm \nu_\mu jj$, resumming all contributions scaling as $\alpha_W^4 \alpha_s^{2+k}\log^k(\hat s/p_\perp^2)$ [arXiv:2107.06818]. These leading logarithmic contributions are enhanced by typical cuts used for Vector Boson Scattering (VBS) studies. We show that while the cross sections are little affected by these corrections, other more exclusive observables relevant for experimental studies are affected more significantly.

• On the scalar $\pi K$ form factor beyond the elastic region

  Pion-kaon ($\pi K$) final states, often appearing in heavy-particle decays at the precision frontier, are important for Standard-Model tests, to describe crossed channels with exotic states, and for spectroscopy of excited kaon resonances. We construct a representation of the $\pi K$ $S$-wave form factor using the elastic $\pi K$ scattering phase shift via dispersion relations in the elastic region and extend this model into the inelastic region using resonance exchange, while maintaining unitarity and the correct analytic structure. As a first application, we successfully described the $\tau \to K_S \pi \nu_\tau$ spectrum to not only achieve a better distinction between $S$- and $P$-wave contributions, but also to provide an improved estimate of the $CP$ asymmetry produced by a tensor operator as well as the forward-backward asymmetry, both of which can be confronted with future data at Belle II. • Measurements of charm production in pp collisions with ALICE

  The production of charm-hadrons at midrapidity in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 5.02 and 13 TeV was recently measured by the ALICE Collaboration. The results show that the baryon-to-meson yield ratios differ from predictions where the hadronisation has been tuned to measurements obtained in $\rm e^{+}e^{-}$ and ep collisions for different charm-baryon species. These observations suggest that the charm fragmentation fractions are not universal and that the baryon-to-meson ratio depends on the collision systems. The results are compared to the predictions from Monte Carlo event generators and theoretical calculations.

  We calculate the full one-loop SUSY-QCD corrections to stop annihilation into gluons and light quarks including the Sommerfeld enhancement effect and discuss their impact on the neutralino relic density in the MSSM.

• Fractal decompositions and tensor network representations of Bethe wavefunctions

  We investigate the entanglement structure of a generic $M$-particle Bethe wavefunction (not necessarily an eigenstate of an integrable model) on a 1d lattice by dividing the lattice into $L$ parts and decomposing the wavefunction into a sum of products of $L$ local wavefunctions. Using the fact that a Bethe wavefunction accepts a fractal multipartite decomposition – it can always be written as a linear combination of $L^M$ products of $L$ local wavefunctions, where each local wavefunction is in turn also a Bethe wavefunction – we then build exact, analytical tensor network representations with finite bond dimension $\chi=2^M$, for a generic planar tree tensor network (TTN), which includes a matrix product states (MPS) and a regular binary TTN as prominent particular cases. For a regular binary tree, the network has depth $\log_{2}(N/M)$ and can be transformed into an adaptive quantum circuit of the same depth, composed of unitary gates acting on $2^M$-dimensional qudits and mid-circuit measurements, that deterministically prepares the Bethe wavefunction. Finally, we put forward a much larger class of generalized Bethe wavefunctions, for which the above decompositions, tensor network and quantum circuit representations are also possible.

• Tau leptons as a tool to investigate the CP properties of the Higgs boson at CMS

  Among the Higgs boson decay channels, the one to tau leptons can offer insight into the properties of the Higgs boson. The structure under CP symmetry of the tau Yukawa coupling was investigated in CMS by reconstructing the decay planes of the two tau leptons and measuring their angular separation. Tau decay planes are reconstructed depending on the studied decay channel to take advantage of the correlation between the tau lepton spin and the momenta of its decay products. Using the data collected during the LHC Run 2 data-taking period, the study revealed that the Yukawa coupling is largely dominated by a pure CP-even component. A pure CP-odd Yukawa coupling is excluded with a 99.7% confidence level allowing to constrain the allowed phase space for possible BSM scenarios.

• Graviton mass and entanglement islands in low spacetime dimensions

  It has been conjectured and proven that entanglement island is not consistent with long-range (massless) gravity in a large class of spacetimes, including typical asymptotically anti-de Sitter spacetimes, in high spacetime dimensions. The conjecture and its proof are motivated by the observation that existing constructions of entanglement islands in high dimensions are all in gravitational theories where the graviton is massive for which the standard gravitational Gauss' law doesn't apply. In this letter, we show that this observation persists to lower dimensional cases. We achieve this goal by providing a unified description of the gravitational Gauss' law violation in island models that can work in any dimensions. This unified description teaches us new lessons on entanglement islands and subregion physics in quantum gravity. We focus on the case of the (1+1)-dimensional Jackiw-Teitelboim (JT) gravity for the purpose of demonstration.

• Intermittency analysis in relativistic heavy-ion collisions

  Local density fluctuations near the QCD critical point can be probed by an intermittency analysis of power-law behavior on scaled factorial moments in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. We study the second-order scaled factorial moment in Au + Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}}$ = 7.7-200 GeV from the UrQMD model. Since the background subtraction and efficiency correction are two important aspects in this measurement, we propose a cumulative variable method to remove background contribution and a cell-by-cell method for efficiency correction in the intermittency analysis.

• Feasibility of tau g-2 measurements in ultra-peripheral collisions of heavy ions

  The anomalous magnetic moment of the tau lepton, $a_\tau=(g_\tau - 2)/2$, is a sensitive probe of new physics but is extremely difficult to measure precisely in contrast to electron and muon moments. The best experimental limits were set by the DELPHI collaboration more than 15 years ago in studies of the ditau production in the $ee\to ee\tau\tau$ process. Ultra-peripheral collisions (UPCs) of heavy ions at the LHC may provide a unique opportunity to improve the $a_\tau$ constraints in the studies of ${\rm Pb + Pb}\to {\rm Pb + Pb}+\tau\tau$ process. We review recent proposals to study ditau production via semi-leptonic tau decays in Pb-Pb UPC with the available ATLAS and CMS data and discuss the feasibility to explore this process down to low transverse momenta of decay leptons with the ALICE and LHCb experiments.
