Emergent dipole field theory in atomic ladders

We study the dynamics of hard-core bosons on ladders, in the presence of strong kinetic constrains akin to those of the Bariev model. We use a combination of analytical methods and numerical simulations to establish the phase diagram of the model. The model displays a paired Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid phase featuring an emergent dipole symmetry, which encodes the local pairing constraint into a global, nonlocal quantity. We scrutinize the effect of such emergent low-energy symmetry during quench dynamics including single-particle defects. We observe that, despite being approximate, the dipole symmetry still leads to very slow relaxation dynamics, which we model via an effective field theory. The model we discuss is amenable to realization in both cold atoms in optical lattices and Rydberg atom arrays with dynamics taking place solely in the Rydberg manifold. To observe the unusual dynamics of excitations in such experimental platforms, we propose a two-step protocol, which starts with the quasi-adiabatic preparation of low-energy states, followed by the local creation of defects and their study under quench dynamics.
Determination of $α_{S}$ beyond $NNLO$ using the event shape averages

In this proceedings we discuss a prescription to extract the QCD strong coupling constant at $N^{3}LO$ precision in perturbative QCD using a combination of ${\cal{O}}(\alpha_{S}^{3})$ calculations in pQCD and estimations of the ${\cal{O}}(\alpha_{S}^{4})$ corrections from the data. The method is applied to a set of event shape averages measured in experiments at the LEP, PETRA, PEP and TRISTAN colliders. In our analysis we account for hadronization effects with models from modern Monte Carlo event generators and analytic hadronization models. We conclude that the precision of the $\alpha_{S}$ extraction cannot be improved significantly only with pQCD predictions of higher orders, and further progress in these studies requires a significant advances in the studies and modeling of hadronization process.
The importance of multiple scatterings in medium-induced gluon radiation

In this work we disentangle the underlying physical picture of the in-medium gluon radiation process across its different energy regimes by comparing the recently obtained fully-resummed -- without any further approximations -- BDMPS-Z in-medium emission spectrum with the extensively used analytical approaches. We observe that in the high-energy regime the radiation process is dominated by a single hard scattering, while in the intermediate-energy region coherence effects among multiple scatterings are crucial. Finally, we prove that in the low-energy regime the dynamics is again controlled by a single scattering but where one must include a suppression factor accounting for the probability of not having any further scatterings.
A perturbation theory for multi-time correlation functions in open quantum systems

Dynamical maps are the principal subject of the open system theory. Formally, the dynamical map of a given open quantum system is a density matrix transformation that takes any initial state and sends it to the state at a later time. Physically, it encapsulates the system's evolution due to coupling with its environment. Hence, the theory provides a flexible and accurate framework for computing expectation values of open system observables. However, expectation values-or more generally, single-time correlation functions-capture only the simplest aspects of a quantum system's dynamics. A complete characterization of the dynamics requires access to multi-time correlation functions as well: phenomena like detailed balance, linear and non-linear response, non-equilibrium transport in general, or even sequential measurements of system observables are all described in terms of multi-time correlations. For closed systems, such correlations are well-defined, even though knowledge of the system's state alone is insufficient to determine them fully. In contrast, the standard dynamical map formalism for open systems does not account for multi-time correlations, as it is fundamentally limited to describing state evolution. Here, we extend the scope of open quantum system theory by developing a systematic perturbation theory for computing multi-time correlation functions.
Updated determinations of |V$_{us}$| with tau decays using new recent estimates of radiative corrections for light-meson leptonic decay rates

We update the |V$_{us}$| determinations using the HFLAV 2018 report tau branching fraction results with recent new estimates of the $\pi\ell2$ and $K\ell2$ radiative corrections. There are minor changes of the central values and uncertainties.
Longitudinal and Transverse Spin Transfer of $Λ$ and $\overlineΛ$ Hyperons in Polarized $p$+$p$ Collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 200$ GeV at RHIC-STAR

Measurements of the longitudinal spin transfer, $D_{LL}$, and the transverse spin transfer, $D_{TT}$, of the $\Lambda(\bar{\Lambda}$) hyperon in polarized $p$+$p$ collisions are expected to be sensitive to the helicity distribution and transversity distribution of the $s(\bar{s})$ quark in proton and the corresponding polarized fragmentation functions. This contribution presents the new preliminary results of the $\Lambda(\bar{\Lambda}$) $D_{LL}$ and $D_{TT}$ using data collected at RHIC-STAR experiment in 2015, with twice larger statistics than previously published results.
Sustaining a temperature difference

We derive an expression for the minimal rate of entropy that sustains two reservoirs at different temperatures $T_0$ and $T_\ell$. The law displays an intuitive $\ell^{-1}$ dependency on the relative distance and a characterisic $\log^2 (T_\ell/T_0)$ dependency on the boundary temperatures. First we give a back-of-envelope argument based on the Fourier Law (FL) of conduction, showing that the least-dissipation profile is exponential. Then we revisit a model of a chain of oscillators, each coupled to a heat reservoir. In the limit of large damping we reobtain the exponential and squared-log behaviors, providing a self-consistent derivation of the FL. For small damping "equipartition frustration" leads to a well-known balistic behaviour, whose incompatibility with the FL posed a long-time challenge.
Energy exchange and fluctuations between a dissipative qubit and a monitor under continuous measurement and feedback

Continuous quantum measurement and feedback induce energy exchange between a dissipative qubit and a monitor even in the steady state, as a measurement backaction. Using the Lindblad equation, we identified the maximum and minimum values of the steady-state energy flow as the measurement and feedback states vary, and we demonstrate the qubit cooling induced by these processes. Turning our attention to quantum trajectories under continuous measurement and feedback, we observe that the energy flow fluctuates around the steady-state values. We reveal that the fluctuations are strongly influenced by the measurement backaction, distinguishing them from the standard Poisson noise typically observed in electronic circuits. Our results offer potential application in the development of quantum refrigerators controlled by continuous measurement and feedback, and provide deep insight into quantum thermodynamics from the perspective of fluctuation.
India based neutrino observatory, physics reach and status report

The India-based Neutrino Observatory (INO) is a proposed underground facility located in India that will primarily house the magnetised Iron CALorimeter (ICAL) detector to study atmospheric neutrinos produced by interactions of cosmic rays with Earth's atmosphere. The physics goal is to to make precision measurements of the neutrino mixing and oscillation parameters through such a study. We present here the results from detailed simulations studies, as well as a status report on the project. In particular, we highlight the sensitivity of ICAL to the open issue of the neutrino mass ordering, which can be determined independent of the CP phase at ICAL.
Probing hadronic interaction models with the hybrid data of the Pierre Auger Observatory

Presently large systematic uncertainties remain in the description of hadronic interactions at ultra-high energies and a fully consistent description of air-shower experimental data is yet to be reached. The amount of data collected by the Pierre Auger Observatory using simultaneously the fluorescence and surface detectors in the energy range 10$^{18.5}$ -10$^{19.0}$ eV has provided opportunity to perform a multi-parameter test of model predictions. We apply a global method to simultaneously fit the mass composition of cosmic rays and adjustments to the simulated depth of shower maximum, and hadronic signal at ground level. The best description of the hybrid data is obtained for a deeper scale of simulated depth of shower maximum than predicted by hadronic interaction models tuned to the LHC data. Consequently, the deficit of the simulated hadronic signal at ground level, dominated by muons, is alleviated with respect to the unmodified hadronic interaction models. Because of the size of the adjustments to simulated depth of shower maximum and hadronic signal and the large number of events in the sample, the statistical significance of these assumed adjustments is large, greater than 5$\sigma_{stat}$, even for the combination of the systematic experimental shifts within 1$\sigma_{sys}$ that are the most favorable for the models.
