• LHC searches motivated by recent $B$-anomalies

  We discuss the physics case for the LHC motivated by the $B$-physics anomalies. After correlating semi-tauonic $B$ decays to di-tau production at the LHC, and discussing the possible models solving the $B$-anomalies, we show how existing LHC data in $\tau\bar\tau$ tails exclude most beyond the SM scenarios except for a handful of leptoquark (LQ) models. We analyze the impact of LHC searches for some of these LQ solutions using current data. In particular, we focus on the well known $U_1$ vector LQ as well as the GUT-inspired scalar LQs, $R_2$ and $S_3$. By exploiting the complementarity between di-tau searches and the lepton flavor violating decays $B\to K\mu\tau$ and $\tau\to\mu\phi$ we argue that these model can be cornered by the LHC, Belle~II and LHCb in the near future.

  Broad and unexplored kinematic regions can be accessed at the LHC with fixed-target $pp$, $pA$ and $PbA$ collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm{NN}}}=72-115~\rm{GeV}$. The LHCb detector is a fully-instrumented forward spectrometer able to run in fixed-target mode, and currently hosts a target gas cell to take data in the upcoming Run 3. The LHCspin project aims at extending this physics program to Run 4 and to bring polarised physics at the LHC. An overview of the physics potential and a description of the LHCspin experimental setup are presented.

  The CREMA collaboration is pursuing a measurement of the ground-state hyperfine splitting (HFS) in muonic hydrogen ($\mu$p) with 1 ppm accuracy by means of pulsed laser spectroscopy. In the proposed experiment, the $\mu$p atom is excited by a laser pulse from the singlet to the triplet hyperfine sub-levels, and is quenched back to the singlet state by an inelastic collision with a H$_2$ molecule. The resulting increase of kinetic energy after this cycle modifies the $\mu$p atom diffusion in the hydrogen gas and the arrival time of the $\mu$p atoms at the target walls. This laser-induced modification of the arrival times is used to expose the atomic transition. In this paper we present the simulation of the $\mu$p diffusion in the H$_2$ gas which is at the core of the experimental scheme. These simulations have been implemented with the Geant4 framework by introducing various low-energy processes including the motion of the H$_2$ molecules, i.e. the effects related with the hydrogen target temperature. The simulations have been used to optimize the hydrogen target parameters (pressure, temperatures and thickness) and to estimate signal and background rates. These rates allow to estimate the maximum time needed to find the resonance and the statistical accuracy of the spectroscopy experiment.

• Tau neutrinos in IceCube, KM3NeT and the Pierre Auger Observatory

  In 2018, the IceCube collaboration reported evidence for the identification of a blazar as an astrophysical neutrino source. That evidence is briefly summarised here before focusing on the prospects of tau neutrino physics in IceCube, both at high energies (astrophysical neutrinos) and at lower energies (atmospheric neutrino oscillations). In addition, future neutrino detectors such as KM3NeT and the IceCube Upgrade and their tau neutrino physics potential are discussed. Finally, the detection mechanism for high-energy (tau) neutrinos in the Pierre Auger Observatory and the resulting flux upper limits are presented.

• The Giant Radio Array for Neutrino Detection (GRAND) Project

  GRAND is designed to detect ultra-high-energy cosmic particles -- specially neutrinos, cosmic rays and gamma rays using radio antennas. With $\sim$20 mountainous sites around the world it will cover a total area of 200,000 km$^{2}$. The planned sensitivity of 10$^{-10}$ GeV cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$ sr$^{-1}$ above $5\times10^{17}$ eV will likely ensure the detection of cosmogenic neutrinos predicted by most common scenarios enabling neutrino astronomy. Furthermore, PeV--EeV neutrinos can test particle interactions at energies above those achieved in accelerators. The pathfinder stage GRANDProto300 is planned to start taking data in 2021. We present the current overall status of the project with emphasis on the neutrino physics.

• Muonium-Antimuonium Conversion

  The MACS experiment performed at PSI in the 1990s provided an yet unchallenged upper bound on the probability for a spontaneous conversion of the muonium atom, ${\rm M=}$($\rm{\mu^+e^-}$) , into its antiatom, antimuonium ${\overline{\rm{M}} = }$($\rm{\mu^-e^+})$. It comprises the culmination of a series of measurements at various accelerator laboratories worldwide. The experimental limits on the process have provided input and steering for the further development of a variety of theoretical models beyond the standard theory, in particular for models which address lepton number violating processes and matter-antimatter oscillations. Several models beyond the standard theory could be strongly disfavored. There is interest in a new measurement and improved sensitivity could be reached by exploiting the time evolution of the conversion process, e.g., at intense pulsed muonium sources.

• Muon Decay

  The decay of the muon has been studied at PSI with several precision measurements: The longitudinal polarization PL(E) with the muon decay parameters ξ′, ξ′′, the Time- Reversal Invariance (TRI) conserving transverse polarization PT1(E) with the muon de- cay parameters η, η′′, the TRI violating transverse polarization PT2(E), with α′/A, β′/A and the muon decay asymmetry with Pμξ. The detailed theoretical analysis of all mea- surements of normal and inverse muon decay has led for the first time to a lower limit |g V | > 0.960 ("V − A") and upper limits for nine other possible complex couplings, espe- cially the scalar coupling |g S | < 0.550 which had not been excluded before.

• Particle Physics at PSI

  Particle physics results of constant value and significant impact have been obtained at PSI, and several efforts are presently ongoing and expected to deliver new findings in the near future. In this special SciPost volume we collect them together in a concise manner. Not yet included are ideas for future facility upgrades or completely new experimental efforts, but we are set to extend this volume in the years to come.

• $μ$-$e$ conversion experiments at J-PARC

  There are two plans of experiments to search for muon to electron ($\mu$-$e$) conversion at J-PARC, which are called DeeMe and COMET. The $\mu$-$e$ conversion is one of the charged lepton flavor violation processes. The processes are forbidden in the Standard Model, but some theories beyond the Standard Model predict relatively large branching ratios at orders of $10^{-12}$ to $10^{-17}$. DeeMe will be conducted with a sensitivity of $1\times10^{-13}$ using a carbon target for 1 year, and COMET will be done with that of $3\times10^{-15}$ in Phase-I. In this article, the current status of these two experiments will be presented.

• Prospects for $\tau$ lepton physics at Belle II

  The Belle II experiment is an upgrade of the Belle detector and will operate at the SuperKEKB energy-asymmetric $e^+e^-$ collider. The accelerator has already successfully completed the first phase of commissioning and first electron positron-collisions in Belle II were observed in April 2018. The design luminosity of SuperKEKB is 8x10$^{35}$ cm$^{-2}$s$^{-1}$ and the Belle II experiment aims to record 50 ab$^{-1}$ of data, a factor of 50 more than the Belle experiment. Belle II has a broad program of $\tau$ physics, in particular, precision measurements of Standard Model parameters and searches of lepton flavor and lepton number violations (LFV and LNV), benefiting from the large cross-section of the pairwise $\tau$ lepton production in $e^+e^-$ collisions. In this talk, we will review the $\tau$ lepton physics program of Belle II.
