• A path integral ground state Monte Carlo algorithm for entanglement of lattice bosons

  A ground state path integral quantum Monte Carlo algorithm is introduced that allows for the study of entanglement in lattice bosons at zero temperature. The Rényi entanglement entropy between spatial subregions is explored across the phase diagram of the one dimensional Bose-Hubbard model for systems consisting of up to $L=256$ sites at unit-filling without any restrictions on site occupancy, far beyond the reach of exact diagonalization. The favorable scaling of the algorithm is demonstrated through a further measurement of the Rényi entanglement entropy at the two dimensional superfluid-insulator critical point for large system sizes, confirming the existence of the expected entanglement boundary law in the ground state. The Rényi estimator is extended to measure the symmetry resolved entanglement that is operationally accessible as a resource for experimentally relevant lattice gases with fixed total particle number.

• From magnetic order to valence-change crossover in EuPd$_2$(Si$_{1-x}$Ge$_x$)$_2$ using He-gas pressure

  We present results of magnetic susceptibility and thermal expansion measurements performed on high-quality single crystals of EuPd$_2$(Si$_{1-x}$Ge$_x$)$_2$ for 0 $\leq x \leq$ 0.2 and temperatures 2 K $\leq T \leq$ 300 K. Data were taken at ambient pressure and finite He-gas pressure $p$ $\leq$ 0.5 GPa. For $x = 0$ and ambient pressure we observe a pronounced valence-change crossover centred around $T'_V$ $\approx$ 160 K with a non-magnetic ground state. This valence-change crossover is characterized by an extraordinarily strong pressure dependence of d$T'_V$ /d$p$ = (80 $\pm 10)$ K/GPa. We observe a shift of $T'_V$ to lower temperatures with increasing Ge-concentration, reaching $T'_V$ $\approx$ 90 K for $x = 0.1$, while still showing a non-magnetic ground state. Remarkably, on further increasing $x$ to 0.2 we find a stable Eu$^{(2+\delta)+}$ valence with long-range antiferromagnetic order below $T_N$ = (47.5 $\pm$ 0.1) K, reflecting a close competition between two energy scales in this system. In fact, by the application of hydrostatic pressure as small as 0.1 GPa, the ground state of this system can be changed from long-range antiferromagnetic order for $p$ $<$ 0.1 GPa to an intermediate-valence state for $p$ $\geq$ 0.1 GPa.

  We present an open-source tensor network Python library for quantum many-body simulations. At its core is an Abelian-symmetric tensor, implemented as a sparse block structure managed by a logical layer on top of a dense multidimensional array backend. This serves as the basis for higher-level tensor network algorithms operating on matrix product states and projected entangled pair states. An appropriate backend, such as PyTorch, gives direct access to automatic differentiation (AD) for cost-function gradient calculations and execution on GPU and other supported accelerators. We show the library performance in simulations with infinite projected entangled-pair states, such as finding the ground states with AD and simulating thermal states of the Hubbard model via imaginary time evolution. For these challenging examples, we identify and quantify sources of the numerical advantage exploited by the symmetric-tensor implementation.

• QArray: A GPU-accelerated constant capacitance model simulator for large quantum dot arrays

  Semiconductor quantum dot arrays are a leading architecture for the development of quantum technologies. Over the years, the constant capacitance model has served as a fundamental framework for simulating, understanding, and navigating the charge stability diagrams of small quantum dot arrays. However, while the size of the arrays keeps growing, solving the constant capacitance model becomes computationally prohibitive. This paper presents an open-source software package able to compute a $100 × 100$ pixels charge stability diagram of a 16-dot array in less than a second. Smaller arrays can be simulated in milliseconds - faster than they could be measured experimentally, enabling the creation of diverse datasets for training machine learning models and the creation of digital twins that can interface with quantum dot devices in real-time. Our software package implements its core functionalities in the systems programming language Rust and the high-performance numerical computing library JAX. The Rust implementation benefits from advanced optimisations and parallelisation, enabling the users to take full advantage of multi-core processors. The JAX implementation allows for GPU acceleration.

• Exploring the unknown Lambda-neutron interaction

  No published Λn scattering data exist. A relativistic heavy-ion experiment has suggested that a Λnn bound state was seen. However, several theoretical analyses have cast serious doubt on the bound-state assertion. Nevertheless, there could exist a three-body Λnn resonance. Such a resonance could be used to constrain the Λn interaction. We dis- cuss Λnn calculations using nn and Λn pairwise interactions of rank-one, separable form that fit effective range parameters of the nn system and those hypothesized for the as yet unobserved Λn system based upon four different ΛN potentials. The use of rank-one separable potentials allows one to analytically continue the Λnn Faddeev equations onto the second complex energy plane in search of resonance poles, by examining the eigenvalue spectrum of the kernel of the Faddeev equations. Although each of the potential models predicts a Λnn sub-threshold resonance pole, scaling of the Λn interaction by as little as ∼5% does produce a physical resonance. This suggests that one may use photo- (electro-)production of the Λnn system from tritium as a tool to examine the strength of the Λn interaction.

• Higher-genus Fay-like identities from meromorphic generating functions

  A possible way of constructing polylogarithms on Riemann surfaces of higher genera facilitates integration kernels, which can be derived from generating functions incorporating the geometry of the surface. Functional relations among polylogarithms rely on identities for those integration kernels. In this article, we derive identities for Enriquez' meromorphic generating function and investigate the implications for the associated integration kernels. The resulting identities are shown to be exhaustive and therefore reproduce all identities for Enriquez' kernels conjectured in arXiv:2407.11476 recently.

• Beyond braid statistics: Constructing a lattice model for anyons with exchange statistics intrinsic to one dimension

  Anyons obeying fractional exchange statistics arise naturally in two dimensions: Hard-core two-body constraints make the configuration space of particles not simply-connected. The braid group describes how topologically-inequivalent exchange paths can be associated to non-trivial geometric phases for abelian anyons. Braid-anyon exchange statistics can also be found in one dimension (1D), but this requires broken Galilean invariance to distinguish different ways for two anyons to exchange. However, recently it was shown that an alternative form of exchange statistics can occur in 1D because hard-core three-body constraints also make the configuration space not simply-connected. Instead of the braid group, the topology of exchange paths and their associated non-trivial geometric phases are described by the traid group. In this article we propose a first concrete model realizing this alternative form of anyonic exchange statistics. Starting from a bosonic lattice model that implements the desired geometric phases with number-dependent Peierls phases, we then define anyonic operators so that the kinetic energy term in the Hamiltonian becomes local and quadratic with respect to them. The ground-state of this traid-anyon-Hubbard model exhibits several indications of exchange statistics intermediate between bosons and fermions, as well as signs of emergent approximate Haldane exclusion statistics. The continuum limit results in a Galilean invariant Hamiltonian with eigenstates that correspond to previously constructed continuum wave functions for traid anyons. This provides not only an a-posteriori justification of our lattice model, but also shows that our construction serves as an intuitive approach to traid anyons, i.e. anyons intrinsic to 1D.

• (1,0) gauge theories on the six-sphere

  We construct gauge theories with a vector-multiplet and hypermultiplets of $(1,0)$ supersymmetry on the six-sphere. The gauge coupling on the sphere depends on the polar angle. This has a natural explanation in terms of the tensor branch of $(1,0)$ theories on the six-sphere. For the vector-multiplet we give an off-shell formulation for all supersymmetries. For hypermultiplets we give an off-shell formulation for one supersymmetry. We show that the path integral for the vector-multiplet localizes to solutions of the Hermitian-Yang-Mills equation, which is a generalization of the (anti-)self duality condition to higher dimensions. For the hypermultiplet, the path integral localizes to configurations where the field strengths of two complex scalars are related by an almost complex structure.

• Measurement of Intermittency for Charged Particles in Au + Au Collisions at $\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}}$ = 7.7-200 GeV from STAR

  Local density fluctuations near the QCD critical point can be probed by intermittency analysis of scaled factorial moments in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. We report the first measurement of intermittency for charged particles in Au + Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}}$ = 7.7-200 GeV from the STAR experiment at RHIC. We observe scaling behaviors in central Au + Au collisions, with the extracted scaling exponent decreasing from mid-central to the most central Au + Au collisions. Furthermore, the scaling exponent exhibits a non-monotonic energy dependence with a minimum around $\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}}$ = 20-30 GeV in central Au + Au collisions.

  We discuss a practical approach to compute master integrals entering physical quantities which depend on one parameter. As an example we consider four-loop QCD corrections to the relation between a heavy quark mass defined in the $\overline{\rm MS}$ and on-shell scheme in the presence of a second heavy quark.
