• Covariant canonical formulations of classical field theories

  We review in simple terms the covariant approaches to the canonical formulation of classical relativistic field theories (in particular gauge field theories and general relativity) and we discuss the relationships between these approaches as well as the relation with the standard (non-covariant) Hamiltonian formulation. Particular attention is paid to conservation laws (notably related to geometric symmetries) within the different approaches. Moreover, for each of these approaches, the impact of space-time boundaries is also addressed. To make the text accessible to a wider audience, we have included an outline of Poisson and symplectic geometry for both classical mechanics and field theory.

• Scale invariant distribution functions in quantum systems with few degrees of freedom

  Scale invariance usually occurs in extended systems where correlation functions decay algebraically in space and/or time. Here we introduce a new type of scale invariance, occurring in the distribution functions of physical observables. At equilibrium these functions decay over a typical scale set by the temperature, but they can become scale invariant in a sudden quantum quench. We exemplify this effect through the analysis of linear and non-linear quantum oscillators. We find that their distribution functions generically diverge logarithmically close to the stable points of the classical dynamics. Our study opens the possibility to address integrability and its breaking in distribution functions, with immediate applications to matter-wave interferometers.

• The classical Heisenberg model on the centred pyrochlore lattice

  The centred pyrochlore lattice is a novel geometrically frustrated lattice, realized in the metal-organic framework Mn(ta)$_2$ [Phys. Rev. Research 5, L022018 (2023)] where the basic unit of spins is a five site centred tetrahedron. Here, we present an in-depth theoretical study of the $J_1-J_2$ classical Heisenberg model on this lattice, using a combination of mean-field analytical methods and Monte Carlo simulations. We find a rich phase diagram with low temperature states exhibiting ferrimagnetic order, partial ordering, and a highly degenerate spin liquid with distinct regimes of low temperature correlations. We discuss in detail how the regime displaying broadened pinch points in its spin structure factor is consistent with an effective description in terms of a fluid of interacting charges. We also show how this picture holds in two dimensions on the analogous centred kagome lattice and elucidate the connection to the physics of thin films in ($d+1$) dimensions. Furthermore, we show that a Coulomb phase can be stabilized on the centred pyrochlore lattice by the addition of further neighbour couplings. This demonstrates the centred pyrochlore lattice is an experimentally relevant geometry which naturally hosts emergent gauge fields in the presence of charges at low energies.

• Traveling discontinuity at the quantum butterfly front

  We formulate a kinetic theory of quantum information scrambling in the context of a paradigmatic model of interacting electrons in the vicinity of a superconducting phase transition. We carefully derive a set of coupled partial differential equations that effectively govern the dynamics of information spreading in generic dimensions. Their solutions show that scrambling propagates at the maximal speed set by the Fermi velocity. At early times, we find exponential growth at a rate set by the inelastic scattering. At late times, we find that scrambling is governed by shock-wave dynamics with traveling waves exhibiting a discontinuity at the boundary of the light cone. Notably, we find perfectly causal dynamics where the solutions do not spill outside of the light cone.

• Di-$\pi^0$ correlations in p+p, p+Al and p+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV at STAR

  The STAR Collaboration reports measurements of back-to-back azimuthal correlations of di-$\pi^0$ produced at forward pseudorapidity ($2.6<\eta<4.0$) in $p+$$p$, $p+$$\mathrm{Al}$ and $p+$$\mathrm{Au}$ collisions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon-nucleon pair of 200 GeV. A clear suppression of the correlated away-side yields is observed in $p+$$\mathrm{Au}$ and for the first time in $p+$$\mathrm{Al}$ collisions, compared with the $p$$+$$p$ data. The enhanced suppression found in $p+$$\mathrm{Au}$ with respect to $p+$$\mathrm{Al}$ collisions exhibits the saturation scale ($Q_s^2$) dependence on the mass number~~$A$. The observed suppression of back-to-back pairs as a function of event activity and transverse momentum points to non-linear gluon dynamics arising at high parton densities.

• Interfacially adsorbed bubbles determine the shape of droplets

  The characterization of density correlations in the presence of strongly fluctuating interfaces has always been considered a difficult problem in statistical mechanics. Here we study - by using recently developed exact field-theoretical techniques - density correlations for an interface with endpoints on a wall forming a droplet in 2D. Our framework applies to interfaces entropically repelled by a hard wall as well as to wetting transitions. In the former case bubbles adsorbed on the interface are taken into account by the theory which yields a systematic treatment of finite-size corrections to one- and two-point functions and show how these are related to Brownian excursions. Our analytical predictions are confirmed by Monte Carlo simulations without free parameters. We also determine one- and two-point functions at wetting by using integrable boundary field theory. We show that correlations are long ranged for entropic repulsion and at wetting. For both regimes we investigate correlations in momentum space by generalizing the notion of interface structure factor to semi-confined systems. Distinctive signatures of the two regimes manifest in the structure factor through a term that we identify on top of the capillary-wave one.

• NNLO photon fragmentation within antenna subtraction

  We report on our recent progress towards including the photon fragmentation contribution in next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD predictions for photon production cross sections. This extension to previous NNLO calculations requires the identification of the photon in singular parton-photon collinear limits. We discuss how these limits can be subtracted within antenna subtraction using fragmentation antenna functions and we outline their integration.

• Hydrodynamics of a relativistic charged fluid in the presence of a periodically modulated chemical potential

  We study charged hydrodynamics in a periodic lattice background. Fluctuations are Bloch waves rather than single momentum Fourier modes. At boundaries of the unit cell where hydrodynamic fluctuations are formally degenerate with their Umklapped copy, level repulsion occurs. Novel mode mixings between charge, sound, and their Umklapped copies appear at finite chemical potential - both at zero and finite momentum. We provide explicit examples for an ionic lattice, i.e. a periodic external chemical potential, and verify our results with numerical computations in fluid-gravity duality.

• A new Wilson line-based classical action for gluodynamics

  We develop a new classical action that in addition to $\mathrm{MHV}$ vertices contains also $\mathrm{N^kMHV}$ vertices, where $1\leq k \leq n-4$ with $n$ the number of external legs. The lowest order vertex is the four-point MHV vertex -- there is no three point vertex and thus the amplitude calculation involves fewer vertices than in the CSW method. The action is obtained by a canonical transformation of the Yang-Mills action in the light-cone gauge, where the field transformations are based on Wilson line functionals.

  We describe the "Linear Response Transport Centre" (LinReTraCe), a package for the simulation of transport properties of solids. LinReTraCe captures quantum (in)coherence effects beyond semi-classical Boltzmann techniques, while incurring similar numerical costs. The enabling algorithmic innovation is a semi-analytical evaluation of Kubo formulae for resistivities and the coefficients of Hall, Seebeck and Nernst. We detail the program's architecture, its interface and usage with electronic-structure packages such as WIEN2k, VASP, and Wannier90, as well as versatile tight-binding settings.
