• Unambiguous simulation of diffusive charge transport in disordered nanoribbons

  Charge transport in disordered two-dimensional (2D) systems showcases a myriad of unique phenomenologies that highlight different aspects of the underlying quantum dynamics. Electrons in such systems undergo a crossover from ballistic propagation to Anderson localization, contingent on the system's effective coherence length. Between the extended and localized phases lies a diffusive crossover in which the charge conductivity is properly defined. The numerical observation of this regime has remained elusive because it requires fully coherent transport to be simulated in systems whose dimensions are sufficiently large to meaningfully split the mean-free path and localization length scales. To address this challenge, we employed a novel linear scaling time-resolved approach that enabled us to derive the dc-transport characteristics and observe the three expected 2D transport regimes — ballistic, diffusive, and localized.

• The scalar and tensor glueball in production and decay

  Evidence for the scalar and the tensor glueball is reported. The evidence stems from an analysis of BESIII data on radiative $J/\psi$ data into $\pi^0\pi^0$, $K_SK_S$, $\eta\eta$, and $\phi\omega$ [1]. The coupled-channel analysis is contrained by a large number of further data. The scalar intensity is described by ten scalar isoscalar mesons, covering the range from $f_0(500)$ to $f_0(2330)$. Five resonances are interpreted as mainly-singlet states in SU(3), five as mainly-octet states. The mainly-singlet resonances are produced over the full mass range, the production of octet states is limited to the 1500 to 2100 MeV mass range and shows a large peak. The peak is interpreted as scalar glueball. Its mass, width and yield are determined to $\rm M_{glueball}=(1865\pm 25)$ MeV, $\Gamma_{\rm glueball} =\rm (370\pm 50^{+30}_{-20}) MeV$, $\rm Y_{J/\psi\to \gamma G_0}=(5.8\pm1.0)\cdot 10^{-3}$. The study of the decays of the scalar mesons identifies significant glueball fractions [2]. The tensor wave shows the $f_2(1270)$ and $f_2'(1525)$ and a small enhancement at $M=2210\pm40$ MeV, $\Gamma=\rm (355^{+60}_{-30}) MeV$ [3]. An interpretation of these data is suggested.

• Recent results from the long-baseline (LBL) neutrino oscillation experiments

  The results from the current long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiments are reviewed. These experiments are designed to measure the remaining unknown neutrino oscillation parameters via the oscillation of accelerator neutrinos over long distances. The performance of these experiments and their results are described and discussed, giving a precise picture of the current status of the measurements for the neutrino mass ordering, the value of ∆m 232 , the θ 23 and the lepton CP-violating phase, δ CP .

• Codebase release 0.4 for pyBumpHunter

  The BumpHunter algorithm is widely used in the search for new particles in High Energy Physics analysis. This algorithm offers the advantage of evaluating the local and global p-values of a localized deviation in the observed data without making any hypothesis on the supposed signal. The increasing popularity of the Python programming language motivated the development of a new public implementation of this algorithm in Python, called pyBumpHunter, together with several improvements and additional features. It is the first public implementation of the BumpHunter algorithm to be added to Scikit-HEP. This paper presents in detail the BumpHunter algorithm as well as all the features proposed in this implementation. All these features have been tested in order to demonstrate their behaviour and performance.

• Engineering unique localization transition with coupled Hatano-Nelson chains

  The paradigmatic Hatano-Nelson (HN) Hamiltonian induces a delocalization-localization (DL) transition in a one-dimensional (1D) lattice with random disorder, in striking contrast to its Hermitian counterpart. The DL transition also persists in the presence of a quasiperiodic potential separating completely delocalized and localized eigenstates. In this study, we reveal that coupling two 1D quasiperiodic Hatano-Nelson (QHN) lattices significantly alters the nature of the DL transition and identify two critical points, $V_{c1} < V_{c2}$, when the nearest neighbors of the two 1D QHN lattices are cross-coupled with strong hopping amplitudes under periodic boundary conditions (PBC). Complete delocalization occurs below $V_{c1}$ and the states are completely localized above $V_{c2}$, while two mobility edges symmetrically emerge about Re[E] = 0 between $V_{c1}$ and $V_{c2}$. Notably, under specific asymmetric cross-hopping amplitudes, $V_{c1}$ approaches zero, resulting in localized states even for an infinitesimally weak potential. Remarkably, we also find that the mobility edges precisely divide the delocalized and localized states in equal proportions. We demonstrate a possible implementation of these findings in a coupled waveguided array which can be exploited to control and manipulate the light localization depending upon the hopping amplitude in the two QHN chains.

• Worldsheet fermion correlators, modular tensors and higher genus integration kernels

  The cyclic product of an arbitrary number of Szegö kernels for even spin structure $\delta$ on a compact higher-genus Riemann surface $\Sigma$ may be decomposed via a descent procedure which systematically separates the dependence on the points $z_i ∈ \Sigma$ from the dependence on the spin structure $\delta$. In this paper, we prove two different, but complementary, descent procedures to achieve this decomposition. In the first procedure, the dependence on the points $z_i ∈ \Sigma$ is expressed via the meromorphic multiple-valued Enriquez kernels of e-print 1112.0864 while the dependence on $\delta$ resides in multiplets of functions that are independent of $z_i$, locally holomorphic in the moduli of $\Sigma$ and generally do not have simple modular transformation properties. The $\delta$-dependent constants are expressed as multiple convolution integrals over homology cycles of $\Sigma$, thereby generalizing a similar representation of the individual Enriquez kernels. In the second procedure, which was proposed without proof in e-print 2308.05044, the dependence on $z_i$ is expressed in terms the single-valued, modular invariant, but non-meromorphic DHS kernels introduced in e-print 2306.08644 while the dependence on $\delta$ resides in modular tensors that are independent of $z_i$ and are generally non-holomorphic in the moduli of $\Sigma$. Although the individual building blocks of these decompositions have markedly different properties, we show that the combinatorial structure of the two decompositions is virtually identical, thereby extending the striking correspondence observed earlier between the roles played by Enriquez and DHS kernels. Both decompositions are further generalized to the case of linear chain products of Szegö kernels.

• Shadow generalized parton distributions: a practical approach to the deconvolution problem of DVCS

  Deeply virtual Compton scattering (DVCS) attracts a lot of interest due to its sensitivity to generalized parton distributions (GPDs) which provide a rich access to the partonic structure of hadrons. However, the practical extraction of GPDs for this channel requires a deconvolution procedure, whose feasibility has been disputed. We provide a practical approach to this problem based on a next-to-leading order analysis and a careful study of evolution effects, by exhibiting shadow GPDs with arbitrarily small imprints on DVCS observables at current and future experimental facilities. This shows that DVCS alone will not allow for a model independent extraction of GPDs and a multi-channel analysis is required for this purpose.

• Hybrid symmetry class topological insulators

  Traditional topological materials belong to different Altland-Zirnbauer symmetry classes (AZSCs) depending on their non-spatial symmetries. Here we introduce the notion of hybrid symmetry class topological insulators (HSCTIs): A fusion of two different AZSC topological insulators (TIs) such that they occupy orthogonal Cartesian hyperplanes and their universal massive Dirac Hamiltonian mutually anticommute, a mathematical procedure we name hybridization. The boundaries of HSCTIs can also harbor TIs, typically affiliated with an AZSC that is different from the ones for the parent two TIs. As such, a fusion or hybridization between planar class AII quantum spin Hall and vertical class BDI Su-Schrieffer-Heeger insulators gives birth to a three-dimensional class A HSCTI, accommodating quantum anomalous Hall insulators (class A) of opposite Chern numbers and quantized Hall conductivity of opposite signs on the top and bottom surfaces. Such a response is shown to be stable against weak disorder. We extend this construction to encompass crystalline HSCTI and topological superconductors (featuring half-quantized thermal Hall conductivity of opposite sings on the top and bottom surfaces), and beyond three spatial dimensions. Non-trivial responses of three-dimensional HSCTIs to crystal defects (namely edge dislocations) in terms of mid-gap bound states at zero energy around its core only on the top and bottom surfaces are presented. Possible (meta)material platforms to harness and engineer HSCTIs are discussed.

• Tangentially active polymers in cylindrical channels

  We present an analytical and computational study characterizing the structural and dynamical properties of an active filament confined in cylindrical channels. We first outline the effects of the interplay between confinement and polar self-propulsion on the conformation of the chains. We observe that the scaling of the polymer size in the channel, quantified by the end-to-end distance, shows different anomalous behaviours under different confinement and activity conditions. In particular, we report scaling exponents that are markedly different from their passive counterparts. Interestingly, we show that the universal relation, describing the ratio between the end-to-end distance of passive polymer chains in cylindrical channels and in bulk is broken by activity. Finally, we show that the long-time diffusion coefficient under confinement can be rationalised by an analytical model, that takes into account the presence of the channel and the elongated nature of the polymer.
