• Annual modulation of dark matter signals: Experimental results and new ideas

  Direct detection experiments searching for the scattering of dark matter particles off nuclei expect an annual modulation in their event rate. In this presentation, I will review the theoretical predictions and the experimental status of the search for annual modulations, with a focus on ongoing and planned experiments using NaI detectors. In particular, I will discuss the interpretation of the DAMA signal and related model-building efforts.

• Dijet production at EIC and interplay of Sudakov and saturation effects in Weizsacker-Williams TMD gluon distribution

  We study production of dijets at the EIC using the small-x Improved Transverse Momentum Dependent factorization (ITMD), which is a framework based on the Color Glass Condensate theory. Dijet production in DIS is the simplest process directly coupled to the Weizsacker-Williams TMD gluon distribution, which is the only small-x gluon distribution possessing the gluon number density interpretation. We study various observables sensitive to the interplay of the Sudakov effects and the nonlinear effects, in particular the azimuthal correlations between the jet system and the scattered electron.

• Automated evaluation of imaginary time strong coupling diagrams by sum-of-exponentials hybridization fitting

  We present an efficient separation of variables algorithm for the evaluation of imaginary time Feynman diagrams appearing in the bold pseudo-particle strong coupling expansion of the Anderson impurity model. The algorithm uses a fitting method based on AAA rational approximation and numerical optimization to obtain a sum-of-exponentials expansion of the hybridization function, which is then used to decompose the diagrams. A diagrammatic formulation of the algorithm leads to an automated procedure for diagrams of arbitrary order and topology. We also present methods of stabilizing the self-consistent solution of the pseudo-particle Dyson equation. The result is a low-cost and high-order accurate impurity solver for quantum embedding methods using general multi-orbital hybridization functions at low temperatures, appropriate for low-to-intermediate expansion orders. In addition to other benchmark examples, we use our solver to perform a dynamical mean-field theory study of a minimal model of the strongly correlated compound Ca$_2$RuO$_4$, describing the anti-ferromagnetic transition and the in- and out-of-plane anisotropy induced by spin-orbit coupling.

• Transverse Single Spin Asymmetries of Heavy Flavor Electrons and Charged Pions in 200 GeV $p+p^{\uparrow}$ Collisions at Midrapidity

  Transverse single spin asymmetries of particles produced in $p+p^{\uparrow}$ collisions provide insight on the partonic spin and momentum structure of hadrons; heavy flavor electrons provide access to initial state spin-momentum correlations of gluons in the proton, while charged pions provide access to initial and final state transverse spin effects. Charged particles are measured at midrapidity at PHENIX using the silicon vertex detector and central arm spectrometer, made of an electromagnetic calorimeter, a ring-imaging Cherenkov detector, and drift and pad chambers. Recent results for both electron and charged pion measurements from the 2015 running period will be presented.

• Cons-training tensor networks: Embedding and optimization over discrete linear constraints

  In this study, we introduce a novel family of tensor networks, termed constrained matrix product states (MPS), designed to incorporate exactly arbitrary discrete linear constraints, including inequalities, into sparse block structures. These tensor networks are particularly tailored for modeling distributions with support strictly over the feasible space, offering benefits such as reducing the search space in optimization problems, alleviating overfitting, improving training efficiency, and decreasing model size. Central to our approach is the concept of a quantum region, an extension of quantum numbers traditionally used in $U(1)$ symmetric tensor networks, adapted to capture any linear constraint, including the unconstrained scenario. We further develop a novel canonical form for these new MPS, which allow for the merging and factorization of tensor blocks according to quantum region fusion rules and permit optimal truncation schemes. Utilizing this canonical form, we apply an unsupervised training strategy to optimize arbitrary objective functions subject to discrete linear constraints. Our method's efficacy is demonstrated by solving the quadratic knapsack problem, achieving superior performance compared to a leading nonlinear integer programming solver. Additionally, we analyze the complexity and scalability of our approach, demonstrating its potential in addressing complex constrained combinatorial optimization problems.

• A large-$N$ approach to magnetic impurities in superconductors

  Quantum spin impurities coupled to superconductors are under intense investigation for their relevance to fundamental research as well as the prospects to engineer novel quantum phases of matter. Here we develop a large-$N$ mean-field theory of a strongly coupled spin-$\tfrac{1}{2}$ quantum impurity in a conventional $s$-wave superconductor. The approach is benchmarked against Wilson's numerical renormalization group (NRG). While the large-$N$ method is not applicable in the weak-coupling regime where the Kondo temperature $T_K$ is smaller than the superconducting gap $\Delta$, it performs very well in the strong coupling regime where $T_K \gtrsim \Delta$, thus allowing us to obtain a reasonably accurate description of experimentally relevant quantities. The latter include the energy of the Yu-Shiba-Rusinov subgap states, their spectral weight, as well as the local density of continuum states. The method provides a reliable analytical tool that complements other perturbative and non-perturbative methods, and can be extended to more complex impurity models for which NRG may not be easily applicable.

• Eikonal Dressed Gluon Exponentiation to study power corrections to Thrust, C-parameter, and Angularity

  Dressed Gluon Exponentiation is a well known method to study power corrections. We present here its eikonalized version -- Eikonal Dressed Gluon Exponentiation (EDGE) \cite{Agarwal:2020uxi} to determine the dominant power corrections to shape variables such as Thrust, $ C $- parameter, and Angularity. Our method remarkably simplifies the calculations.

• The asymmetric Fermi surface of Bi2201

  High-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) performed on the single-layered cuprate (Pb$_{1-y}$,Bi$_y$)$_2$Sr$_{2-x}$La$_x$CuO$_{6+\delta}$ (Bi2201) reveals a 6-10% difference in the nodal $k_F$ vectors along the $\Gamma$Y and $\Gamma$X directions. This asymmetry is notably larger than the 2% orthorhombic distortion in the CuO$_2$ plane lattice constants determined using X-ray crystallography from the same samples. First principles calculations indicate that crystal-field splitting of the bands lies at the root of the $k_{F}$ asymmetry. Concomitantly, the nodal Fermi velocities for the $\Gamma$Y quadrant exceed those for $\Gamma$X by 4%. Momentum distribution curve widths for the two nodal dispersions are also anisotropic, showing identical energy dependencies, bar a scaling factor of $\sim$ 1.17$± 0.05$ between $\Gamma$Y and $\Gamma$X. Consequently, the imaginary part of the self-energy is found to be 10-20% greater along $\Gamma$Y than $\Gamma$X. These results emphasize the need to account for Fermi surface asymmetry in the analysis of ARPES data on Bi-based cuprate high temperature superconductors such as Bi2201. To illustrate this point, an orthorhombic tight-binding model (with twofold in-plane symmetry) was used to fit ARPES Fermi surface maps spanning all four quadrants of the Brillouin zone, and the ARPES-derived hole-doping (Luttinger count) was extracted. Comparison of the Luttinger count with one assuming four-fold in-plane symmetry strongly suggests the marked spread in previously-reported Fermi surface areas from ARPES on Bi2201 results from the differences in $k_F$ along $\Gamma$Y and $\Gamma$X. Using this analysis, a new, linear relationship emerges between the hole-doping derived from ARPES ($p_{\text{ARPES}}$) and that derived using the Presland ($p_{\text{Presland}}$) relation such that $p_{\text{ARPES}} = p_{\text{Presland}}+0.11$. The implications for this difference between the ARPES- and Presland-derived estimates for $p$ are discussed and possible future directions to elucidate the origin of this discrepancy are presented.

• Development of the ATLAS Liquid Argon Calorimeter Readout Electronics for the HL-LHC

  The full ATLAS Liquid Argon Calorimeter electronic readout chain will be upgraded for the high-luminosity LHC. The upgrade is designed to withstand the expected radiation level and to be compatible with the Phase-I Digital Trigger System which is being installed right now. Analogue electronics shape and amplify the calorimeter signals before they are digitized with 16 bit dynamic range on two gain scales. The on-detector system samples the calorimeter cell signals at 40 MHz and sends them to the off-detector electronics which apply digital processing based on FPGAs. Design studies and tests of prototypes of the upgraded components are present

• A pitfall in applying non-anticommuting $γ_5$ in $q\overline{q} \rightarrow ZH$ amplitudes

  In computing the two-loop QCD corrections to a class of Feynman diagrams for the process $q\overline{q} \rightarrow ZH$ in Higgs effective field theory, we discover a striking phenomenon. We find the need for an additional local composite operator in the renormalised Lagrangian while employing a non-anticommuting $\gamma_5$ in dimensional regularisation. The computation using anticommuting $\gamma_5$, however, does not require any such amendment.
