• Classical Lie bialgebras for AdS/CFT integrability by contraction and reduction

  Integrability of the one-dimensional Hubbard model and of the factorised scattering problem encountered on the worldsheet of AdS strings can be expressed in terms of a peculiar quantum algebra. In this article, we derive the classical limit of these algebraic integrable structures based on established results for the exceptional simple Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{d}(2,1;\epsilon)$ along with standard $\mathfrak{sl}(2)$ which form supersymmetric isometries on 3D AdS space. The two major steps in this construction consist in the contraction to a 3D Poincaré superalgebra and a certain reduction to a deformation of the $\mathfrak{u}(2|2)$ superalgebra. We apply these steps to the integrable structure and obtain the desired Lie bialgebras with suitable classical r-matrices of rational and trigonometric kind. We illustrate our findings in terms of representations for on-shell fields on AdS and flat space.

• Supersymmetric ground states of 3d $\mathcal{N}=4$ SUSY gauge theories and Heisenberg algebras

  We consider 3d $\mathcal{N}=4$ theories on the geometry $\Sigma \times \mathbb{R}$, where $\Sigma$ is a closed and connected Riemann surface, from the point of view of a quantum mechanics on $\mathbb{R}$. Focussing on the elementary mirror pair in the presence of real deformation parameters, namely SQED with one hypermultiplet (SQED[1]) and the free hypermulitplet, we study the algebras of local operators in the respective quantum mechanics as well as their action on the vector space of supersymmetric ground states. We demonstrate that the algebras can be described in terms of Heisenberg algebras, and that they act in a way reminiscent of Segal-Bargmann (B-twist of the free hypermultiplet) and Nakajima (A-twist of SQED[1]) operators.

• Unfolding $E_{11}$

  We work out the unfolded formulation of the fields in the non-linear realisation of $E_{11}$. Using the connections in this formalism, we propose, at the linearised level, an infinite number of first-order duality relations between the dual fields in $E_{11}$. In this way, we introduce extra fields that do not belong to $E_{11}$ and we investigate their origin. The equations of motion of the fields are obtained by taking derivatives and higher traces of the duality relations.

• Anomaly of $(2+1)$-dimensional symmetry-enriched topological order from $(3+1)$-dimensional topological quantum field theory

  Symmetry acting on a (2+1)$D$ topological order can be anomalous in the sense that they possess an obstruction to being realized as a purely (2+1)$D$ on-site symmetry. In this paper, we develop a (3+1)$D$ topological quantum field theory to calculate the anomaly indicators of a (2+1)$D$ topological order with a general symmetry group $G$, which may be discrete or continuous, Abelian or non-Abelian, contain anti-unitary elements or not, and permute anyons or not. These anomaly indicators are partition functions of the (3+1)$D$ topological quantum field theory on a specific manifold equipped with some $G$-bundle, and they are expressed using the data characterizing the topological order and the symmetry actions. Our framework is applied to derive the anomaly indicators for various symmetry groups, including $\mathbb{Z}_2\times\mathbb{Z}_2$, $\mathbb{Z}_2^T\times\mathbb{Z}_2^T$, $SO(N)$, $O(N)^T$, $SO(N)\times \mathbb{Z}_2^T$, etc, where $\mathbb{Z}_2$ and $\mathbb{Z}_2^T$ denote a unitary and anti-unitary order-2 group, respectively, and $O(N)^T$ denotes a symmetry group $O(N)$ such that elements in $O(N)$ with determinant $-1$ are anti-unitary. In particular, we demonstrate that some anomaly of $O(N)^T$ and $SO(N)\times \mathbb{Z}_2^T$ exhibit symmetry-enforced gaplessness, i.e., they cannot be realized by any symmetry-enriched topological order. As a byproduct, for $SO(N)$ symmetric topological orders, we derive their $SO(N)$ Hall conductance.

  We introduce a Julia implementation of the recently proposed Nevanlinna analytic continuation method. The method is based on Nevanlinna interpolants and inherently preserves the causality of a response function due to its construction. For theoretical calculations without statistical noise, this continuation method is a powerful tool to extract real-frequency information from numerical input data on the Matsubara axis. This method has been applied to first-principles calculations of correlated materials. This paper presents its efficient and full-featured open-source implementation of the method including the Hamburger moment problem and smoothing.

• Emergence of generalized hydrodynamics in the non-local Luttinger model

  We propose the Luttinger model with finite-range interactions as a simple tractable example in 1+1 dimensions to analytically study the emergence of Euler-scale hydrodynamics in a quantum many-body system. This non-local Luttinger model is an exactly solvable quantum field theory somewhere between conformal and Bethe-ansatz integrable models. Applying the recent proposal of generalized hydrodynamics, we show that the model allows for fully explicit yet non-trivial solutions of the resulting Euler-scale hydrodynamic equations. Comparing with exact analytical non-equilibrium results valid at all time and length scales, we show perfect agreement at the Euler scale when the interactions are short range. A formal proof of the emergence of generalized hydrodynamics in the non-local Luttinger model is also given, and effects of long-range interactions are briefly discussed.

• Mulan: a part-per-million measurement of the muon lifetime and determination of the Fermi constant

  The part-per-million measurement of the positive muon lifetime and determination of the Fermi constant by the MuLan experiment at the Paul Scherrer Institute is reviewed. The experiment used an innovative, time-structured, surface muon beam and a near-4π, finely-segmented, plastic scintillator positron detector. Two in-vacuum muon stopping targets were used: a ferromagnetic foil with a large internal magnetic field, and a quartz crystal in a moderate external magnetic field. The experiment acquired a dataset of 1.6e12 positive muon decays and obtained a muon lifetime τ_µ = 2 196 980.3(2.2) ps (1.0 ppm) and Fermi constant G_F = 1.166 378 7(6) × 10−5 GeV^−2 (0.5 ppm). The thirty fold improvement in τ_µ has proven valuable for precision measurements in nuclear muon capture and the commensurate improvement in G_F has proven valuable for precision tests of the standard model.

• Engaging with the State. Illegalized migrants, welfare institutions and the law in French-Speaking Belgium

  By highlighting informal strategies and solidarities on the one hand, and protests on the other, current studies of citizenship and illegalized migration describe two main forms of political subjectivities among illegalized migrants: ‘without’ the state or ‘against’ it. In contrast, this article unpacks how migrants make use of state laws and institutions, voice expectations, and pursue their claims using official venues – in short, how they act ‘with’ the state. It builds on ethnographic fieldwork on illegalized migrants’ welfare requests in French-speaking Belgium and the various sets of actors involved in assessing or furthering their cases. Migrants’ discourses and expectations of the welfare office provide insights into their understandings of the state, highlight the crucial role of immigration lawyers in brokering cases, and ultimately allow for a more nuanced reading of the idea that welfare dependency leads to deportability. On a theoretical level, this article contributes to ongoing debates both in the study of statehood and in migration studies, showing how procedural fairness can be a central aspect of – in this case – migrants’ relationship to and expectations of the state, and how migrants’ strategies and practices of inclusion can also be formal ones, based on existing state laws and institutions.

  The introduction of Neural Quantum States (NQS) has recently given a new twist to variational Monte Carlo (VMC). The ability to systematically reduce the bias of the wave function ansatz renders the approach widely applicable. However, performant implementations are crucial to reach the numerical state of the art. Here, we present a Python codebase that supports arbitrary NQS architectures and model Hamiltonians. Additionally leveraging automatic differentiation, just-in-time compilation to accelerators, and distributed computing, it is designed to facilitate the composition of efficient NQS algorithms.

• Hydrodynamics of a relativistic charged fluid in the presence of a periodically modulated chemical potential

  We study charged hydrodynamics in a periodic lattice background. Fluctuations are Bloch waves rather than single momentum Fourier modes. At boundaries of the unit cell where hydrodynamic fluctuations are formally degenerate with their Umklapped copy, level repulsion occurs. Novel mode mixings between charge, sound, and their Umklapped copies appear at finite chemical potential - both at zero and finite momentum. We provide explicit examples for an ionic lattice, i.e. a periodic external chemical potential, and verify our results with numerical computations in fluid-gravity duality.
