• Mode-shell correspondence, a unifying phase space theory in topological physics - Part I: Chiral number of zero-modes

  We propose a theory, that we call the mode-shell correspondence, which relates the topological zero-modes localised in phase space to a shell invariant defined on the surface forming a shell enclosing these zero-modes. We show that the mode-shell formalism provides a general framework unifying important results of topological physics, such as the bulk-edge correspondence, higher-order topological insulators, but also the Atiyah-Singer and the Callias index theories. In this paper, we discuss the already rich phenomenology of chiral symmetric Hamiltonians where the topological quantity is the chiral number of zero-dimensional zero-energy modes. We explain how, in a lot of cases, the shell-invariant has a semi-classical limit expressed as a generalised winding number on the shell, which makes it accessible to analytical computations.

• Hybrid high-energy/collinear factorization in a heavy-light dijets system reaction

  We propose the inclusive hadroproduction of a heavy-light dijet system, as a new channel for the investigation of high energy QCD. We build up a hybrid factorization that incorporates a partial next-to-leading BFKL resummation inside the standard collinear description of observables. We present a detailed analysis of different observables: cross-section summed over azimuthal angles and differential in rapidity and azimuthal distribution. The stability that these distributions show under higher-order corrections motivates our interest in future studies, doable at new generation colliding machines.

• Bethe-state counting and Witten index

  We count the physical Bethe states of quantum integrable models with twisted boundary conditions using the Witten index of 2d supersymmetric gauge theories. For multi-component models solvable by the nested Bethe ansatz, the result is a novel restricted occupancy problem. For the SU(3) spin chain and the t-J model, we propose formulae for the solution count on singular loci in the space of twist parameters.

• Dynamical mean field theory for models of confluent tissues and beyond

  We consider a recently proposed model to understand the rigidity transition in confluent tissues and we derive the dynamical mean field theory (DMFT) equations that describes several types of dynamics of the model in the thermodynamic limit: gradient descent, thermal Langevin noise and active drive. In particular we focus on gradient descent dynamics and we integrate numerically the corresponding DMFT equations. In this case we show that gradient descent is blind to the zero temperature replica symmetry breaking (RSB) transition point. This means that, even if the Gibbs measure in the zero temperature limit displays RSB, this algorithm is able to find its way to a zero energy configuration. We include a discussion on possible extensions of the DMFT derivation to study problems rooted in high-dimensional regression and optimization via the square loss function.

• Higher-order corrections to exclusive heavy vector meson production

  We present results for higher-order corrections to exclusive $\mathrm{J}/\psi$ production. This includes the first relativistic correction of order $v^2$ in quark velocity, and next-to-leading order corrections in $\alpha_s$ for longitudinally polarized production. The relativistic corrections are found to be important for a good description of the HERA data, especially at small values of the photon virtuality. The next-to-leading order results for longitudinal production are evaluated numerically. We also demonstrate how the vector meson production provides complementary information to the structure functions for extracting the initial condition for the small-$x$ evolution of the dipole-proton scattering amplitude.

• Boundary SymTFT

  We study properties of boundary conditions (BCs) in theories with categorical (or non-invertible) symmetries. We describe how the transformation properties, or (generalized) charges, of BCs are captured by topological BCs of Symmetry Topological Field Theory (SymTFT), which is a topological field theory in one higher spacetime dimension. As an application of the SymTFT characterization, we discuss the symmetry properties of boundary conditions for (1+1)d gapped and gapless phases. We provide a number of concrete examples in spacetime dimensions $d=2,3$. We furthermore expand the lattice description for (1+1)d anyon chains with categorical symmetries to include boundary conditions carrying arbitrary 1-charges under the symmetry.

• Dynamics of parafermionic states in transport measurements

  Advances in hybrid fractional quantum Hall (FQH)-superconductor platforms pave the way for realisation of parafermionic modes. We analyse signatures of these non-abelian anyons in transport measurements across devices with $\mathbb{Z}_6$ parafermions (PFs) coupled to an external electrode. Simulating the dynamics of these open systems by a stochastic quantum jump method, we show that a current readout over sufficiently long times constitutes a projective measurement of the fractional charge shared by two PFs. Interaction of these topological modes with the FQH environment, however, may cause poisoning events affecting this degree of freedom which we model by jump operators that describe incoherent coupling of PFs with FQH edge modes. We analyse how this gives rise to a characteristic three-level telegraph noise in the current, constituting a very strong signature of PFs. We discuss also other forms of poisoning and noise caused by interaction with fractional quasiparticles in the bulk of the Hall system. We conclude our work with an analysis of four-PF devices, in particular on how the PF fusion algebra can be observed in electrical transport experiments.

• Boron-doping of cubic SiC for intermediate band solar cells: a scanning transmission electron microscopy study

  Boron (B) has the potential for generating an intermediate band in cubic silicon carbide (3C-SiC), turning this material into a highly efficient absorber for single-junction solar cells. The formation of a delocalized band demands high concentration of the foreign element, but the precipitation behavior of B in the 3C polymorph of SiC is not well known. Here, probe-corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy and secondary-ion mass spectrometry are used to investigate precipitation mechanisms in B-implanted 3C-SiC as a function of temperature. Point-defect clustering was detected after annealing at 1273 K, while stacking faults, B-rich precipitates and dislocation networks developed in the 1573 - 1773 K range. The precipitates adopted the rhombohedral B13C2 structure and trapped B up to 1773 K. Above this temperature, higher solubility reduced precipitation and free B diffused out of the implantation layer. Dopant concentrations E19 at.cm-3 were achieved at 1873 K.

• Ferromagnets, a new anomaly, instantons, and (noninvertible) continuous translations

  We discuss a large class of classical field theories with continuous translation symmetry. In the quantum theory, a new anomaly explicitly breaks this translation symmetry to a discrete symmetry. Furthermore, this discrete translation symmetry is extended by a $d-2$-form global symmetry. All these theories can be described as $U(1)$ gauge theories where Gauss law states that the system has nonzero charge density. Special cases of such systems can be phrased as theories with a compact phase space. Examples are ferromagnets and lattices in the lowest Landau level. In some cases, the broken continuous translation symmetry can be resurrected as a noninvertible symmetry. We clarify the relation between the discrete translation symmetry of the continuum theory and the discrete translation symmetry of an underlying lattice model. Our treatment unifies, clarifies, and extends earlier works on the same subject.

• Signatures of folded branches in the scanning gate microscopy of ballistic electronic cavities

  We demonstrate the emergence of classical features in electronic quantum transport for the scanning gate microscopy response in a cavity defined by a quantum point contact and a micron-sized circular reflector. The branches in electronic flow characteristic of a quantum point contact opening on a two-dimensional electron gas with weak disorder are folded by the reflector, yielding a complex spatial pattern. Considering the deflection of classical trajectories by the scanning gate tip allows to establish simple relationships of the scanning pattern, which are in agreement with recent experimental findings.
