• Approaching the first any light particle search II science run

  The Any Light Particle Search II (ALPS II) is a light-shining-through-a-wall (LSW) experiment based at DESY in Hamburg, Germany, that will search for axions and axion-like particles down to the coupling of the axion to two photons of $g_{a\gamma\gamma}$ >2$\times10^{-11}$ GeV$^{-1}$ for masses below 0.1 meV. ALPS II will use two strings of superconducting dipole magnets that are over one hundred meters in length, as well as optical cavities before and after the wall to boost the effective signal rate of the regenerated photons by more than 12 orders of magnitude when compared to previous generations of LSW experiments. Data taking with a simplified optical system is expected to begin in early 2023.

• Probing hadronic interaction models with the hybrid data of the Pierre Auger Observatory

  Presently large systematic uncertainties remain in the description of hadronic interactions at ultra-high energies and a fully consistent description of air-shower experimental data is yet to be reached. The amount of data collected by the Pierre Auger Observatory using simultaneously the fluorescence and surface detectors in the energy range 10$^{18.5}$ -10$^{19.0}$ eV has provided opportunity to perform a multi-parameter test of model predictions. We apply a global method to simultaneously fit the mass composition of cosmic rays and adjustments to the simulated depth of shower maximum, and hadronic signal at ground level. The best description of the hybrid data is obtained for a deeper scale of simulated depth of shower maximum than predicted by hadronic interaction models tuned to the LHC data. Consequently, the deficit of the simulated hadronic signal at ground level, dominated by muons, is alleviated with respect to the unmodified hadronic interaction models. Because of the size of the adjustments to simulated depth of shower maximum and hadronic signal and the large number of events in the sample, the statistical significance of these assumed adjustments is large, greater than 5$\sigma_{stat}$, even for the combination of the systematic experimental shifts within 1$\sigma_{sys}$ that are the most favorable for the models.

• Unfrustrating the t-J Model: d-wave BCS Superconductivity in the t'-J_z-V Model

  The t-J model is believed to be a minimal model that may be capable of describing the low-energy physics of the cuprate superconductors. However, although the t-J model is simple in appearance, obtaining a detailed understanding of its phase diagram has proved to be challenging. We are therefore motivated to study modifications to the t-J model such that its phase diagram and mechanism for d-wave superconductivity can be understood analytically without making uncontrolled approximations. The modified model we consider is a t'-J_z-V model on a square lattice, which has a second-nearest-neighbor hopping t' (instead of a nearest-neighbor hopping t), an Ising (instead of Heisenberg) antiferromagnetic coupling J_z, and a nearest-neighbor repulsion V. In a certain strongly interacting limit, the ground state is an antiferromagnetic superconductor that can be described exactly by a Hamiltonian where the only interaction is a nearest-neighbor attraction. BCS theory can then be applied with arbitrary analytical control, from which nodeless d-wave or s-wave superconductivity can result.

• Superfluid response of two-dimensional filamentary superconductors

  Different classes of low-dimensional superconducting systems exhibit an inhomogeneous filamentary superconducting condensate whose macroscopic coherence still needs to be fully investigated and understood. Here, we present a thorough analysis of the superfluid response of a prototypical filamentary superconductor embedded in a two-dimensional metallic matrix. By mapping the system into an exactly solvable random impedance network, we show how the dissipative (reactive) response of the system non-trivially depends on both the macroscopic and microscopic characteristics of the metallic (superconducting) fraction. We compare our calculations with resonant microwave transport measurements performed on LaAlO$_3$/SrTiO$_3$ heterostructures over an extended range of temperatures and carrier densities finding that the filamentary character of superconductivity accounts for unusual peculiar features of the experimental data.

• Vertical and lateral manipulation of single Cs atoms on the semiconductor InAs(111)A

  The tip of the scanning tunneling microscope can be used to position atoms and molecules on surfaces with atomic scale precision. Here, we report the controlled vertical and lateral manipulation of single Cs atoms on the InAs(111)A surface. The Cs adatom adsorbs on the In-vacancy site of the InAs(111)A—(2x2) surface reconstruction. Lateral manipulation is possible in all directions over the surface, not just along high-symmetry directions. Both pushing and pulling modes were observed in the height profile of the tip. We assembled two artificial structures, demonstrating the reliability of the manipulation procedures. Structures remained intact to a temperature of at least 44 K.

• Multiscale pentagon integrals to all orders

  We present analytical results for one-loop five-point master integrals with up to three off-shell legs. The method of canonical differential equations along with the Simplified Differential Equations approach is employed. All necessary boundary terms are given in closed form, resulting to solutions in terms of Goncharov Polylogarithms of arbitrary weight. Explicit results up to weight six will be presented.

• Unraveling complexity: Singular value decomposition in complex experimental data analysis

  Analyzing complex experimental data with multiple parameters is challenging. We propose using Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) as an effective solution. This method, demonstrated through real experimental data analysis, surpasses conventional approaches in understanding complex physics data. Singular values and vectors distinguish and highlight various physical mechanisms and scales, revealing previously challenging elements. SVD emerges as a powerful tool for navigating complex experimental landscapes, showing promise for diverse experimental measurements.

• The low-energy spectrum in DAMIC at SNOLAB

  The DAMIC experiment employs large-area, thick charge-coupled devices (CCDs) to search for the interactions of low-mass dark matter particles in the galactic halo with silicon atoms in the CCD target. From 2017 to 2019, DAMIC collected data with a seven-CCD array (40-gram target) installed in the SNOLAB underground laboratory. We report dark-matter search results, including a conspicuous excess of events above the background model below 200$V_{ee}$, whose origin remains unknown. We present details of the published spectral analysis, and update on the deployment of skipper CCDs to perform a more precise measurement by early 2023.

• Studying hadronization at LHCb

  LHCb is a fully instrumented forward spectrometer with particle identification and muon reconstruction covering the pseudorapidity ($eta$) range from 2 to 5. Its full jet reconstruc- tion capability makes the LHCb experiment a suitable venue to explore jet substructure observables, particularly formation of hadrons and heavy quarkonia resonances inside jets. This contribution presents a brief overview of ongoing research program and dis- cusses recent results on non-identified charged hadron distributions in Z-tagged jets and charmonium distributions within jets. Future works towards furthering the knowledge of hadronizion are also discussed.

• The ATLAS Tile Calorimeter performance and its upgrade towards the High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider

  The Tile Calorimeter (TileCal) is a sampling calorimeter that forms the central region of the hadronic calorimeter of the ATLAS experiment. This sub-detector is to undergo its Phase-II upgrade during long-shutdown 3, in the years from 2025 to mid 2027, in preparation for the start of operation of the High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) in 2027. In this proceeding, an overview of the TileCal HL-LHC on-detector electronics upgrade is provided. The detectors Run-II performance in the cases of EM scale calibration, calorimeter response, cell energy distribution and noise as well as a portion of the 2015-2018 Test-beam campaigns results are examined.
