• Refined cyclic renormalization group in Russian doll model

  Focusing on Bethe-Ansatz integrable models, robust to both time-reversal symmetry breaking and disorder, we consider the Russian Doll Model (RDM) for finite system sizes and energy levels. Suggested as a time-reversal-symmetry breaking deformation of Richardson's model, the well-known and simplest model of superconductivity, RDM revealed an unusual cyclic renormalization group (RG) over the system size $N$, where the energy levels repeat themselves, shifted by one after a finite period in $\ln N$, supplemented by a hierarchy of superconducting condensates, with the superconducting gaps following the so-called Efimov (exponential) scaling. The equidistant single-particle spectrum of RDM made the above Efimov scaling and cyclic RG to be asymptotically exact in the wideband limit of the diagonal potential. Here, we generalize this observation in various respects. We find that, beyond the wideband limit, when the entire spectrum is considered, the periodicity of the spectrum is not constant, but appears to be energy-dependent. Moreover, we resolve the apparent paradox of shift in the spectrum by a single level after the RG period, despite the disappearance of a finite fraction of energy levels. We also analyze the effects of disorder in the diagonal potential on the above periodicity and show that it survives only for high energies beyond the energy interval of the disorder amplitude. Our analytic analysis is supported with exact diagonalization.

  The Trojan Horse Method is an indirect method to measure reaction cross sections at energies of interest for nuclear astrophysics, exploiting the nuclei clustering properties. Here it is presented with its general features and detailed for the case of the 2H(d,p)3H and 2H(d,n)3He measurements, where interesting results for astrophysics and energy fusion power plants have been obtained.

• Extending the planar theory of anyons to quantum wire networks

  The braiding of the worldlines of particles restricted to move on a network (graph) is governed by the graph braid group, which can be strikingly different from the standard braid group known from two-dimensional physics. It has been recently shown that imposing the compatibility of graph braiding with anyon fusion for anyons exchanging at a single wire junction leads to new types of anyon models with the braiding exchange operators stemming from solutions of certain generalised hexagon equations. In this work, we establish these graph-braided anyon fusion models for general wire networks. We show that the character of braiding strongly depends on the graph-theoretic connectivity of the given network. In particular, we prove that triconnected networks yield the same braiding exchange operators as the planar anyon models. In contrast, modular biconnected networks support independent braiding exchange operators in different modules. Consequently, such modular networks may lead to more efficient topological quantum computer circuits. Finally, we conjecture that the graph-braided anyon fusion models will possess the (generalised) coherence property where certain polygon equations determine the braiding exchange operators for an arbitrary number of anyons. We also extensively study solutions to these polygon equations for chosen low-rank multiplicity-free fusion rings, including the Ising theory, quantum double of $\mathbb{Z}_{2}$, and Tambara-Yamagami models. We find numerous solutions that do not appear in the planar theory of anyons.

• Probabilistic deconstruction of a theory of gravity, part II: Curved space

  We propose that the underlying context of holographic duality and the Ryu-Takayanagi formula is that the volume measure of spacetime is a probability measure constrained by quantum dynamics. We define quantum stochastic processes using joint quantum distributions which are realized in a quantum system as expectation values of products of projectors. In anti-de Sitter JT gravity, we show that Einstein's equations arise from the evolution of probability under the quantum stochastic process induced by the boundary, with the area of compactified space in the gravitational theory identified as a probability density evolving under the quantum process. Extrapolating these and related results in flat JT gravity found in [SciPost Phys. 15, 174 (2023)], we conjecture that general relativity arises in the semi-classical limit of the evolution of probability with respect to quantum stochastic processes.

• Lattice phase shifts and mixing angles for an arbitrary number of coupled channels

  We present a lattice method for determining scattering phase shifts and mixing angles for the case of an arbitrary number of coupled channels. The proposed method combines a spherical wall boundary condition and a channel-mixing auxiliary potential to extract the full-rank S-matrix from the radial wave functions. We consider the scattering problem of two spin-1 bosons interacting with a test potential involving up to four coupled channels. For this benchmark system, the phase shifts and mixing angles are shown to agree on the lattice and in the continuum. Our method should allow to extend previous two-channel nuclear lattice EFT simulations to mixing of more than two partial waves.

• How to unfold top decays

  Using unfolded top-quark decay data we can measure the top quark mass, as well as search for unexpected kinematic effects. We present a new generative unfolding method for the two tasks and show how they both benefit from unbinned, high-dimensional unfolding. Unlike weight-based or iterative generative methods we include a targeted unbiasing with respect to the training data. This shows significant advantages over standard, iterative methods, in terms of applicability, flexibility and accuracy.

• Physics motivation and detector upgrades for the new era of the ATLAS experiment

  The ATLAS experiment at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider (LHC) will be upgraded in two stages to prepare first for the Run 3 data-taking campaign, during which the integrated luminosity will roughly double, and then for the High-Luminosity LHC program with an ultimate integrated luminosity of up to 4 ab-1. These upgrades and high-statistics datasets will allow ATLAS to perform searches and precision measurements to constrain the Standard Model in yet-unexplored phase spaces and in the Higgs sector. This contribution summarizes the ATLAS detector upgrades and selected physics prospects for Run 3 and the HL-LHC.

• Inclusive decays of heavy quark hybrids

  In order to understand the nature of the XYZ particles, theoretical predictions of the various XYZ decay modes are essential. In this work, we focus on the semi-inclusive decays of heavy quarkonium hybrids into traditional quarkonium in the EFT framework. We begin with weakly coupled potential NRQCD effective theory that describes systems with two heavy quarks and incorporates multipole expansions and use it to develop a Born-Oppenheimer effective theory (BOEFT) to describe the hybrids and compute the semi-inclusive decay rates. We compute both the spin-conserving and spin-flipping decay rates and find that our numerical results of the decay rates are different from the previous studies. We also develop a systematic framework in which the theoretical uncertainty can be systematically improved.

• Growth of the Wang-Casati-Prosen counter in an integrable billiard

  This work is motivated by an article by Wang, Casati, and Prosen [Phys. Rev. E vol. 89, 042918 (2014)] devoted to a study of ergodicity in two-dimensional irrational right-triangular billiards. Numerical results presented there suggest that these billiards are generally not ergodic. However, they become ergodic when the billiard angle is equal to $\pi/2$ times a Liouvillian irrational, morally a class of irrational numbers which are well approximated by rationals. In particular, Wang et al. study a special integer counter that reflects the irrational contribution to the velocity orientation; they conjecture that this counter is localized in the generic case, but grows in the Liouvillian case. We propose a generalization of the Wang-Casati-Prosen counter: this generalization allows to include rational billiards into consideration. We show that in the case of a $45°\!\!:\!45°\!\!:\!90°$ billiard, the counter grows indefinitely, consistent with the Liouvillian scenario suggested by Wang et al.

• Diffractive dissociation in future electron-ion colliders

  We study diffractive scattering cross sections, focusing on the rapidity gap distribution in realistic kinematics at future electron-ion colliders. Our study consists in numerical solutions of the QCD evolution equations in both fixed and running coupling frameworks. The fixed and the running coupling equations are shown to lead to different shapes for the rapidity gap distribution. The obtained distribution when the coupling is fixed exhibits a shape characteristic of a recently developed model for diffractive dissociation, which indicates the relevance of the study of that diffractive observable for the partonic-level understanding of diffraction.
